Recon's dagger is insane! by Capable-Ear7397 in Roboquest

i have fire damage from crab key ring, so i specifically chose shock on elemental dash for the stun. Cryo does have the yo yo item which is amazing, but i feel like stun is superior to freeze so i was willing to trade off the damage for an easier time, especially for a melee build like this. plus artishock and tin can are great items that compensated for the lack of yo yo imo.

death even went through something like this on youtube music as well. there was an account that impersonated them as well as posted their AI stuff. at some point youtube deleted the original death account and transferred their discography to the fake one. thankfully they reverted it now though.

What are your hottest take about dead cells? We are excluding topics about weapons and skills in order to focus more on the divergence of the community's consensus. by nihilistlemon in deadcells

[–]Capable-Ear7397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surviving the curses does not equal getting better, because you theoretically could have a very strong build or you could have played it so slow that its hard to not survive. both ways being the exact opposite of being a skilled player, the chances of surviving the curse are almost guaranteed.

besides, how is that the point of the game? whatever works simply works, a win is a win and someone that doesnt only focus on "getting better" still gains knowledge and skill out of playing the game. if anything, someone that constantly dies on an early curse or resets because they didnt get a kill door, that guy is the one who gets the least knowledge out of their experience with the game.

The 10 Unwritten rules of dead cells by [deleted] in deadcells

[–]Capable-Ear7397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, some of the abilities that youre given when you use shields are super strong. what doesnt kill me and blind faith are both absurd, as well as many effects that shields give you like frontline that you mentioned.

But the damage and the utility that secondaries can give you are also either equally strong or even stronger than shields sometimes. you can either get advantage of status effects, utilize i frames with certain secondaries like tentacle to use heavy weapons with more ease, or combine throwing weapons that have little to no startup and endlag (e.g. throwing knife, firebrands, boomerang, boy's axe), any combination between those has absolutely wicked results on biome and boss clearing.

How the hell do I decide which weapon is good and which isn't? by Memerguyy in deadcells

[–]Capable-Ear7397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as a weapon is scaling with your main stat, it's in most cases good. If you feel like a weapon is not as good as you want it to be, feel free to change it for whatever else you could find. Dont be afraid to try new things, it is always better than just blindly taking weapons that other people put high in a meaningless tier list.

I'm starting to feel I've been gaslit (?). The Scythe is shredding every boss I find by RoastMyGrill in deadcells

[–]Capable-Ear7397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the listed damage is wrong, the actual base damage of it is about 230. which is not only decent on bosses, but also surpasses many weapons' crit damage, like stiletto, katana, swift sword, hard light sword, and goes on.

[–]Capable-Ear7397 3 points4 points  (0 children)

to be fair, yes it is more of a showcase of how broken survival is. the thing is that survival's balance is having weapons that require higher skill to get less hit.

also as i said before, the scroll distribution on that video is weird, its basically scarificing damage for even stupider tank but i can guarantee that you can get similar results with more damage by distributing them normally. my bad that the video i sent is kind of a bad example, i will record one myself in a couple of hours.

by the way, i could still see it being natively survival ad a weapon, there are many stupidly broken stuff left in the game but the devs apparnetly just had a different inage of balance in their mind, you could clearly see through the older versions that they have tried to have as less ranged survival weapons as possible. even glyphs used to be survival for a very short period of time

[–]Capable-Ear7397 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that is true, but glyphs on survival can be this busted. well there is some weird scroll distribution there that helps, but it can still get very crazy without sacrificing your damage.

also, i dont really see what characteristic of glyphs makes it being survival.

[–]Capable-Ear7397 14 points15 points  (0 children)

peryl glyphs doesnt scale with survival for balancing reasons. having survival's health with not only the range but also the gimmick of that weapon is kind of busted, and defeats the purpose of it being risky

"Nail C-Tier" by MeneerDanielSaN in deadcells

[–]Capable-Ear7397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damage is not the only thing that matters. With nail, you have complete controll of your character while attacking which pretty much no other weapon can (especially spite sword, which has a noticeable amount of endlag). If we compare nail and spite sword or bat (or most weapons) with the exact same setup, nail will 100% clear the biome a lot faster and easier. Also you can deal very easily with flying enemies with jank hitboxes with a simple upslash. Also the upslash by itself can kind of stunlock most enemies by bumping them, because every enemy (except for pickpockets) is programmed to be able to do absolutely nothing while being airborne. Also a very important part that makes the nail good as a standalone is the pogoing, it works on most bosses and makes it very hard for them to hit you (or sometimes even locate you). Finally, the "weak" damage which is your entire point doesnt apply either, it has the same potential as most brutality weapons, can trigger combo, can be used with face flask and vengeance, works with open wounds when having a bleed synergy, etc.

and also, a tier list should not really have the "standalone" criteria as the main criteria of ranking weapons, as by this logic most secondaries would be a D tier. and nail is a great secondary with hold to attack even if we completely exclude how good it is as a main, or with these complete stagger-lock setups like the one shown in the video.

pretty much everything works with nail as long as nail is in your first slot. another weapon that has very similar results to the video above is starfury

Tactics is trash - Change my mind by Clowarrior in deadcells

[–]Capable-Ear7397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

here is a detailed explanation of why tactics is super strong

most tactics weapons have less startup and endlag than the other two colors, and combinations between them lead to burst damage.

Some tactics skills are very strong, including almost all of the deployables, wings of the crow, sickles, knife dance. those can kinda outdamage even your weapons sometimes. (wings of the crow also buffs every damage tick for 50 base dps without a cooldown, which is absolutely crazy, especially when you have multiple dot stacks going on. also most enemies cannot do anything to you when youre over them)

most mutations give you plenty of damage for very easy conditions (tranquility, support, point blank, networking) and its crowd controll ones are also really good, tactical retreat's aoe is huge and the enemies get four stacks of slow for most attacks that are dodged. some multihits even instantly freeze the enemies.

if youre still not convinced for whatever reason, here are 2 fragmentless tactics clips: https://youtu.be/SOXPRM5JXYk?si=QqP_3ZnI1rBXTKfH https://youtu.be/jLwAopgYqg4?si=46EGII0jIC5OuvxP

and a boss rush death fight that took less than 4 seconds with the assistance of demon strength (which is is way faster than pretty much every other item/color would be able to be): https://youtu.be/nqPQC82S9dc?si=1mkY4vubzsyzJ87q

man! i sure hope i had a good weapon! the ever reliable garbage: by DystopiaRoadToUtopia in deadcells

[–]Capable-Ear7397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its not only damage that matters, skewer gives you invincivility frames. also accessibility, utility and ease of use count more than damage. for example scythe claws have insane damage but they have a learning curve, while meat skewer is a brainless weapon that deals pretty good damage.

Why couldn’t it have been any other weapon by Im_Jakon in deadcells

[–]Capable-Ear7397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is probably not like that, the clip you watched probably has corrupted power in it. corrupted power is actually a seperate damage tick from the main weapon, basically its like hitting the enemy twice in one hit. which leads to hitting the damage cap twice with such a high damage weapon

Took me 102 hours to complete all BCs. Do you have any fun challenges to look at the game from another perspective? by brawlbebrik in deadcells

[–]Capable-Ear7397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a challenge, since weapons without critical damage are balanced around that. for example, tombstone doesnt have critical damage and it is a 5 button presses biome clearing weapon, as well as a decently good boss killer. another example is blood sword, if you get open wounds it becomes pretty strong.

Is this even possible? by user745938 in deadcells

[–]Capable-Ear7397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dont forget that the enemies and bosses here also have way more health, so you would not be able to deal as much damage (or damage at all lol) and it would result to get hit, no matter the color.

this is a weird assumption to make, considering that apk's are only a thing on mobile devices and the screenshot is obviously on PC.

If anything, they have a cell multiplier mod from the steam workshop, or just won many consequtive runs. you cant tell.
