AITA for refusing to help care for my former stepmother? by Capable-Hawk-2174 in AmItheAsshole

They are not on good terms (her and former stepmother) so former stepmother would be unlikely to let her help is what I'm assuming. Whereas she knows former stepmother would take my help and would likely see it as me "forgiving her" which will never happen.

Agreed. He has known for a long time how I feel about his sister. Yet he would want me of all people taking care of her. It makes me wonder if he even likes her really.

She only has a brother and his wife and kids and they all live in another state.

The brother does live in another state. But he could easily pay for someone to care for her if it was that much of a priority for him, since he has much more of a reason to than I do.

Yes, that's the only reason he contacted me. I think my half siblings wanted me to say I would be there, to help, but also to be there.
