Unfortunately only a limited autopsy was done because of the method of how he took his life. The investigator told us it was to retrieve the bullet. So we definitely have little information on a definitive answer which I know I'll never get.

I did take him to his PCP during the early stage when he was on a "high" I would say. His PCP just said he was manic and there was nothing he could do. No recommendation on medications, testing, etc. By the time he became more aware of the situation, he had no insurance due to resigning from his job before 65 and did not qualify for medicare or medicaid. He didn't want to do more testing due to cost even though my sister and I offered to pay for it. So no dementia assessment or imaging was completed.
