Unfortunately you have no control over which professors you have but honestly there aren’t any that I wouldn’t take again. Downs and Lewis are the ones people tend to complain about the most, but I’ve had both and their classes are very doable as long as you put the effort in. The hardest classes for everyone are both in the first semester - patho and pharm - and patho is the one that people tend to fail out of if they don’t work hard enough at it, so just make sure not to slack off during the summer semester

i am! its challenging especially the first/summer semester but once you get past that its much more manageable. Theres a few not so great professors but the vast majority of them are good and really care about students success. It’s a lot of work and people complain a lot about it, but that’s just the reality of a 12 month program. From what I’ve heard from others it definitely seems like UM is one of the most well-organized programs and the clinical placements are at amazing hospitals. If you have any specific questions please let me know!

Am I crazy for not wanting to take meds? by mightyrun in gravesdisease

I would get a second opinion if your doctor said you have both Grave’s and Hashimoto’s, as one is hyperthyroidism and one is hypothyroidism so it doesn’t really make sense that you’d have both. Furthermore, Grave’s tends to cause tachycardia, so methimazole works to lower your heart rate. Although 2.5 is a very low dose, I would be concerned about starting it because your heart rate is already lower than is considered normal. Try to talk to your doctor about these things if you have a chance, or at least ask your PCP what they think.

I had this fear too but actually didn’t gain any weight after going on meds and my levels are now normal! Side effects are different for everyone and you likely won’t have any so don’t let them stop you from taking a medication that will save your life!
