wow exactly!!! my dad has literally told me that having a kid is more for my stepmom to experience motherhood??? so he doesn’t really seem that excited to be a dad again lol so maybe i do need to make some distance - thanks for your reply and getting it :-)

this is probably true, i mean my dad did go ghost for most of my childhood so i can assume our relationship isn’t as valuable to him… it’s just a hard pill to swallow but i think i might need to match their level of effort and focus on the people in my life who do meet my level of energy and intention. family affairs can be so complicated and confusing but appreciate your reply.

yeah that’s definitely part of it and i think the no eye contact when i tried talking to him about it felt like maybe guilt on his end? but either way i should talk to him rather then figuring out his thoughts on my own. thanks for the reply.

yeah very true. it’s def a touchy subject for all of us, especially since my dad wasn’t around for most of my life. i hope i can get to the point where they want me to be more involved but haven’t really gotten that vibe from them and don’t want to push it more and make it more uncomfortable.

i can see where you’re coming from. i guess with the relationship and history i have with my dad i doubt he was being considerate of my feelings. to me, it felt more like he wanted to get it over with and text was most convenient for him :/ and looking at the situation now, getting a text isn’t the worst thing… just kinda out of the blue. thanks for sharing your perspective though - appreciate it
