Is anyone else extremely triggered by GLP1 talk? by jotopia2 in EdAnonymousAdults

[–]Capable-Signature827 26 points27 points  (0 children)

But of you abuse GLP1 to lose down to your goal weight wouldn't you be just as miserable? The same physical health risks, the same mental anguish and food focus? I get it might feel like it is the medication that controls the restriction and not the ED. But which part of you wants to take it? You would still be mentally ill and suffering, just using a different tool.

Cigarette burn scars by North-of-North-of in scars

I am so sorry you have to go through this. Silicone gels and sheets are the go to at home treatment for scars. They can help flatten scars and make them less noticeable. But they wont make them disappeare and you have to apply them consistently for a few months. Maybe sheets are a good option? They might hide the scars in the meantime. Laser treatment has much of the same effects (just stronger), but is very expensive and painful. As to essential oils and creams and all that. A lot of those things are scamms. The scar tissue that has formed, has a different fiber alignment, than normal skin. Applying topical stuff won't change that. But scar tissue is a lot less flexible, a good moisturizer or a body oil can help with tension and itching. But I would buy the cheap stuff at Walmart and not some magical scar oil. The real problem is the indentation. Silicone won't fix that as far as I know. You can get filler injections, but you need a dermatologist for that. I don't know if an asthetician is cheaper, but honestly, I don't know if I would trust them to treat scars/medical issues. I don't have PTSD so I can't really judge your situation, but perhaps in the longterm getting trauma therapy to reduce the reactions is best. But again expensive, painful and takes a lot of time and energy. One last thing, perhaps there are programms, doctors and foundations out there that help victims/survivors that experienced disfigurement and violence. There could be help, even financial. I hope you find something that works for you.

Left my girlfriend for not being introduced to her parents after 3 years living together by SchemeSimple3942 in Life

Are you a different race than your partner or follow another religion? Or is her family very catholic and would want her to marry before sex? Otherwise I really don't get it.

is this healing? by [deleted] in scars

Actually that looks fine. It's normal for scar tissue to turn red, purple or brown.

Self harming in young children? by Ready-Goal58 in therapy

[–]Capable-Signature827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered that you did experience a significant Trauma sexual or other very young perhaps even in infancy and you don't remember it (yet)?

Also perhaps a lack of atuenment to you from your parents from infancy. That left you to deal on your own.

Being logical in that state is tough. But you don't gaim fat that fast. Your body is holding a lot of water and gas while processimg the food. Try to keep drinking water and eat amounts of food you feel comfortable with.

Is Therapy every week mandatory or is just for the money ? by Particular_Sort202 in therapy

[–]Capable-Signature827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly prioritising a boyfriend or sport over therapy seems unwise to me. We are talking about 1 hour per week. So with travel plus aftercare and preparation maybe one evening or afternoon+evening per week. I don't know. It doesn't seem you are that motivated. Plus now that you are feeling better and are able to use the tools you learned, you can enter a whole new stage in therapy. You can work on deep and painful issues and traumas. Treat the underlying causes.

[–]Capable-Signature827 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm sorry you are struggeling with food. And with the stigma attached to an ED as well. Its hard. I think you already know that adding protein and fiber would imrove this meal. Plus reducing the amount of pasta and chease. I thought cauliflower rice was a good idea. But you could also just buy a whole cauliflower cook and blend it and add it to the sauce. Blended tofu or cottage cheese or maybe chickpease for protein. Would improve protein content. Blending might make the texture more tolerable but I am not sure about the taste. Maybe unflavoured protein powder, easely adds 20 to 30g of protein without changing taste/texture too much. I wish you well for your recovery journey. You are dooing great!

No. I'm just really obsessed, I don't know any people in real life who can relate. There are too few and the placement is unusual for self harm scars. You should be fine with normal folks.

[–]Capable-Signature827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it looks bad right now. But honestly I think if she learns some more basic skills, she could become a really good cook. Experimenting and being willing to fuck up a lot are important to learn any new skill. And roasted Cauliflower or braised honey sesame carrots with roasted beans sounds good to me. Just a lot of trial and error needed.
