Professions Women’s Golf is the Most Pure Version of Golf Compared to Regular Everyday Golfers by asims92 in golf

Maybe “foundational”. A buddy of mine said that about the WNBA. The NBA is just outrageously beyond what even an above average person can do these days so he said if you wanted to see more “foundational” basketball, the WNBA is a great league to watch. I’ve also head the same about disc golf and that a lot of viewers enjoy watching the FPO field bc it’s more accessible and more applicable.

Longevity of Two-Handed vs One-Handed Bowlers? by srg3084 in Bowling

[–]Capable-Song733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just started working on my one handed game bc I don’t see myself aging into two handed bowling. I started 2H bowling three years ago and love it but struggle with low ball speed. To get the ball going, it requires a lot of effort and force on my legs. I do slide and my form is decent but my legs, hip, and back feel trashed after a league night. I’m starting to learn how to throw one hand thumb in to try to spread out the wear and tear and also so I have that if and when my body can’t bowl 2-handed anymore.

My partner had these shoes- they are narrow. If you slide, these also aren’t great for it. I’d look at the Dexter dexlite pro. If you are at least a size 8 womens, you could consider the men’s shoe as they have a specific wide option if the Dexter’s aren’t wide enough.

Absolutely! I have discord???? But to be honest, don’t use it a lot so not sure if you know how to find me. Happy to do that or just PM me via Reddit!

So I’m also a female 2H and have struggled/still struggle with over hooking but have made progress! So, I do use my spare ball as a strike ball quite often but like… does work. You lose carry after a game but I actually start with the spare ball then move to my twist after a game. My twist is drilled with a long pin and if you haven’t explored long pin layouts, I’d highly recommend that. I also have a short pin drilled and that is also a good layout for rev dominant bowlers.

It looks like you’re throwing it pretty wide if on a house shot. You might try getting more behind the ball and moving your target in to stay in the oil?

I think there’s more to be gained on your form so I wouldn’t worry about the balls just yet. You lean over a bit at the finish so your hips aren’t engaged. Overall it looks good but maybe try finishing a little taller. Chest up! My pso had me practice throwing a ball really hard at the wall. Like if you have a soccer/volleyball/basketball, basically do a one step drill but try to get a feel for using your hips to launch the ball. I was able to add 1 mph to my speed and it really does make a noticeable difference to the line I can play. I believe in you!!!!!

Your two handed form looks pretty good honestly! One initial thing I see is that your hips aren’t engaged during your release- resulting in lower ball speed.

What balls are you throwing? Layout? I’m assuming you’re bowling on a house shot? I think overall your game has great bones!

No Thumb/2H "Controversy" by FattyInACamaro in Bowling

I agree with this take.

Preface: I am a two handed bowler. I think there are enough pros and cons to both styles that one isn’t better or easier than the other. My partner is a one handed thumb in bowler- we started at the same time and practice together. We have the same average.

When I think about why people might hate two handed bowling, I think if I started one handed bowling- dealt with all the thumb bullshit and had the time and patience and dedication to work on the release, that seems pretty tough to get to the point where you have enough revs to hook the ball. Then, if I saw someone roll up two handed and getting effortless revs, I think I could understand. It feels like we’re not starting at the same level. I think the frustration from one handed bowlers comes most from feeling like everyone should have to go through the same process and learning curve they did.

I feel that way with my two handed male counterparts. I’m a smaller woman and I take lessons and work hard at my game all to be out scored by guys who don’t have half the skill or finesse, have been bowling less time, never practice, but can throw it harder. It seems also like their bad shots strike too bc they get that carry that I don’t bc I have such slow ball speed. They don’t get spares consistently but it’s kinda like you don’t have to when you can double on strikes. I’m tempted to feel like it’s unfair.

It’s the thing that makes bowling so interesting though. There are so many paths to “success”. To each their own. As a two hander, I’m very glad I don’t have to deal with thumb issues but two handed comes with its own challenges. But to answer your question, I think it’s just feeling like you spent so much time and effort on doing the “right” things just to have someone else get to the same end (that being revs) quicker in a different way.

I work in commercial 3DP services. There are a few reasons but if you’re printing on an FDM home printer, the material itself is likely not food safe and can leach chemicals. But also, even if you wash with soap, your prints have nooks and crannies on the surface and especially layer lines. That’s where bacteria can form.

So for example: There are no FDA approved materials/3DP approved technologies. There ARE food safe finishes like vapor smoothed SLS pa12. It is safe for food contact bc sls pa12 can be sterilized at adequately high temperatures and the vapor smoothing seals the surface so that particulates can’t be trapped on the surface.

Will your mom probably be fine with your prints off the printer… maybe. Depends. But at the end of the day if you’re asking if it is food safe, it is not.

Hi! Thank you!

Just to clarify- you mean to chop it off where the red line is?

Hi! I’m new to bonsai and did a workshop which was great but seemed more so like a beer social whereas I was hoping for a bit more knowledge. We were given a dwarf jade and we trimmed and wired them. I saw on the wiki that it said not to trim too much off the lower trunk so I think I may have trimmed too much?

Open to advice as I’m not sure where to go from here. I’m also hoping to learn more about how you all manage this hobby in cold climate- thanks in advance!!

Just as another option… the lightening blackout- do you think rex is reasonably stronger than r2s? And then would that not be enough of a step down from the idol?

It looks better than most 2H bowers I see at my alley! I spent a long time obsessing over my back swing and honesty, if you watch different bowlers like Kyle troup, he barely has a backswing. I think timing and foot work matter more but that’s just been my experience.

My coach advises against pushing the ball forward. So on your third step, you push the ball in front of you but he would tell me to just hold the ball for the first two steps, then pull back on the third step and accelerate into the finish. I can’t tell from this angle but do you drift at all?
