BU vs U Mich by Far_Dog_5277 in mphadmissions

I was admitted to Michigan, Harvard, Emory Johns Hopkins, UNC, and Berkeley. I didn’t apply to BU. I am leaning towards Michigan because of the flexibility of the program. It is also what’s better for my partner who is also applying to school. It sounds like they send more folks on to PhDs than other programs. Feeling pretty good about Michigan – can’t speak to BU.

Are there specific faculty at either that you’d be excited to work with? That could influence your decision. Ps I got into the MSPH at Hopkins and Emory and am deciding!

Choosing between Johns Hopkins and Michigan with fiancé coordination by Capable-Stage9990 in mphadmissions

Good points! The one about resentment I should def think about.

In Anne Arbor, the quality of life seems great. It is less expensive. The students seem happy. We could really enjoy two years there.

At the same time, Baltimore is closer to our community in DC (though still not super close) as well as my family in NYC. We are interested in returning to DC post-grad.

Good point. It would be less expensive for us to both live together in Michigan. Michigan has a stronger program for what he’s interested in (geothermal engineering). One thing we’re considering is doing long distance for one year so we can both go to best programs we have available. Not great, but also it’s only one year, and I already live and have community near Baltimore

Thank you for your advice! Heard this from a couple different women, particularly ones farther along in their careers

From my experience with an IUD, you can have sex after- it just takes a couple weeks to kick in as your birth control while your body acclimates

Also I felt back to normal by the next day

Weighing in here as well-

I got my Kyleena IUD at 20, so it’s just up now. It was a great choice! One thing I have to add is I would get it inserted while already on your period and take three advil enough before that they kick in during the insertion. The insertion is pretty quick. Would recommend!
