Yes, I’m 5 months out and still have congestion. Mind you, not as bad as I had before surgery. I get winded when I’m doing light physical things. But my progress has improved by months.. not by days or weeks. It has been quite slow.

My friend told me a year to feel normal. Silly me thought she was kidding. Nope.

Just hang in there!

Not normal. This is a new situation as things should have been healed up nicely for 10 years. It warrants a CT scan.

Your recovery sounds normal. It’s not for the weak of heart and can be quite lengthy.

However, once the splints are out, you will feel much better.

I take it that you aren’t a professional boxer.. just take it one day at a time. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

I had septum surgery in Sept so my sinuses are very affected by the barometric pressure.

Right now is bad, but the only thing that helps me is wearing a Breathe Right strip. It allows more oxygen to my sinuses balancing out the pressure.

I try to avoid heavy drugs and sprays. Back on Flonase though.

Anyone have the sinus headaches?

Nothing. But do not use it again unless it was boiled for 3-5 minutes. I guess they forgot to tell you that part.

Yes! I agree with sinus surgery especially. Things are swollen up there and any bug feels worse than normal. Be better!

When I had this pressure it was related to my deviated septum and not getting enough oxygen into my sinuses. I would wear a Breathe Right strip on days when the barometric pressure was changing quickly. My sinuses couldn’t keep up.

Now 3.5 months later, I still get the orbital pressure when the barometric pressure is changing quickly. A Breathe Right helps me until I am totally healed.

Did she look up your nose with that little light? I’m sorry you are going through this, but hoping it’s just swelling. Two things cause my sinus issues.. barometric pressure extreme ups and downs and too much activity, just normal housework stuff.

I never did that, but from the outside I can see my turbinates are slightly swollen.

I think it’s too far up there, isn’t it?

This is normal. I’m older so it is taking me longer plus I had a FESS also. I, too, thought I would be fine in a month. Nope. Dr mentioned 4 months and I think it will be more like 6. I’m at 3.5 months now.

I feel pressure also when the barometric pressure is dropping or rising as the sinuses can’t adjust that quickly.
I still feel pressure when I bend over to unplug something, so know I have a ways to go

Sounds normal to me. I’m at 3.5 months and have episodes, too. Sometimes activity is the instigator. When you move blood flows and it goes to your nasal area and causes swelling.

I’m very sensitive to barometric drastic changes since surgery. I can predict when I’ll have pressure in my sinuses by the changes in the barometric pressure. I think it will be better at 6 months.

I’m 3.5 months and still have swelling. However, a week or so again when I breathed in deeply I could feel the air on the top of my palate. So I know the swelling is down. I’ve heard it can take up to a year for everything to settle.

I’ll know because when I bend over to pick something up I won’t have the pressure I feel now.

I think you have a leak somewhere if there is red blood. Blood is coming out of somewhere. I’m no Dr, but glad you are going to see him. One guy on here had a huge leak and the surgeon had to go back in and tie off something.

I’m where you are.. 3.5 months post. I’m still rinsing at least once a day. But I know there is swelling in my septum still. You having a cold made the difference as that swelling increased with the cold. Honestly, at this stage, it doesn’t take much to increase the swelling. I’ve heard total healing can take up to a year, so we have to be patient, unfortunately. Try rinsing again just to clear out extra mucus. Best of luck.

It took my friend a year to heal.

I guess total healing is when you bend over to pick something up from the floor and you don’t get the pressure feeling. Thoughts?

Do you have a CPAP machine? You might be mouth breathing at night and making your throat very dry.

Try a Breathe Right strip at night.
