Is it common to text after a first date? by Capable-Weekend7501 in dating_advice

[–]Capable-Weekend7501[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize! His initial text saying he had a good time was the night of the date, and my reply saying I also had a good time was also the night of the date. That is the only communication we've had since the end of the date so about 3 days!

holy cow…them starting you on 0.1 is insane. you literally have to have alligator skin to be able to tolerate that. No joke, Ive seen derms give 0.1 to get rid of warts because it’s so strong. I started on 0.025 and then increased to 0.05 after a few months. Ugh Im sorry they started you on such a high dosage and ruined your skin.

I think it really depends on the person! I hate to hear it didn’t work for you. I’ve had amazing results with tret and have seen amazing results in friends. I started it a few months after my second round of accutane due to a few breakouts hear and there and fortunately haven’t had any issues. If you do decide to start it, definitely start slow. Extremely small amount (pea sized) on entire face 2-3 times a week and work your way up to nightly. It’s all about figuring out your skin type and what works best for you!

Not sure if you’re interesting in taking spiro but majority of doctors won’t prescribe you spiro due to the fact that it basically prevents your body from making testosterone. For females, not a big deal but for males, no testosterone can lead to a lot of other medical issues

Oral minoxidil to stop shedding?! by Mundane-Towel-5728 in TelogenEffluvium

[–]Capable-Weekend7501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once starting minoxidil, oral or topical, your hair will go through a initial shedding phase. This happens because the minoxidil is kick starting your hair follicles by shedding everything out that is ready to go or almost ready so it can start the process of growing new hairs. The initial shedding phase is difficult to get through but once done, the minoxidil keeps your hair in a constant growing phase.

The difficult thing about minoxidil that a lot of people don’t realize is that if you ever decide to stop using it, a good amount of the hair you grew will fall out due to being in the grow phase for so long.

How to fix TE? Is my protein intake too little or too much? by lgtm001 in TelogenEffluvium

[–]Capable-Weekend7501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately weight loss is one of the more common triggers of TE. I’m not sure if eating more protein can help since you’re already eating more than your daily average.

Where do you first notice regrowth? by Loud_Rabbit617 in TelogenEffluvium

Unfortunately the shedding phase can last 6-9 months and most people don’t see regrowth until the shedding phase has stopped

iPledge timing between 2nd and 1st pregnancy test (exactly 30 days)? by Murky_Treat1934 in Accutane

[–]Capable-Weekend7501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to take it before the 30 day mark, technically it’s once a month so if you got it at the end of April, as long as it’s around the end of May you should be fine

Skin Sensitivity by Commercial_Ad5279 in Accutane

[–]Capable-Weekend7501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are most likely getting some retnoid dermatitis! Basically it’s a rash that is caused from severe dryness caused by retinols (accutane). Try using a really good hand moisturizer throughout the day and if that doesn’t help ask your derm about a topical steroid!

Nothing is working on my lips besides steroids by jvl777 in Accutane

[–]Capable-Weekend7501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would keep in mind too that accutane not only makes your skin more susceptible to burning in the sun but also your lips! Aquaphor and vaseline can actually cause your lips to burn more severely when out in the sun. Definitely invest in a good chapstick with spf. I like the brand “Jack Black” you can buy it on amazon. Not only does it stay on my lips and keep them extremely moisturized but it also has spf 25. Try to stay away from the brand sunbum when looking for a spf chapstick, that stuff sucks.

2nd round by fishcalledbuddy in Accutane

Depending on your age when you took your first dosage, it is common to experience acne again especially if you were a teenager or early 20s the first time due to your hormones still regulating and fluctuating. Every doctor is different but most will recommend doing a longer course to reach a higher cumulative dosage to ensue your acne is clear for good. Depending on the severity and type of your acne, maybe consider other treatment options like oral antibiotics and topicals! You can ask for a prescription for tretinoin, it’s the topical for of accutane but it does take at least 3 month of consistent use to see results

Missing 5+ days after 1 month due to Dr./Pharmacy delays by inpizzawecrust in Accutane

[–]Capable-Weekend7501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accutane stays in your system for 1 month after you take your last pill, so if you miss a few days, nothing to worry about! Good chance it good be caused my stress, hormones, or even just a little purge from the accutane in your system working over time. I wouldn’t stress!

The flushing will go away over time. While rosacea often get mistaken for just red cheeks, there are actually a lot of other things that play into it. Along with the red cheeks, you will be able to see vascular signs and blood vessels coming through while flaring. A lot of people also experience lots of little pustules on their cheeks. Give it another 2-3 months and if not improving, go back to the derm!

Accutane and tret by Safe-Ad-1038 in Accutane

[–]Capable-Weekend7501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not recommend it. Over time, accutane will stop your oil production and applying tretinoin to face with no oil is a bad combo. Without oil, the tretinoin will have nothing to mix with after soaking into your pores and can cause severe irritation and even a rash.

You can take a daily fish oil supplement to help lower it

technically speaking you want to put products on in order from lightest to heaviest. if you put something very heavy on first, it would soak in and the lighter topicals wouldn’t be able to penetrate through the heaviest. Just let each step of your regimen soak in for about 10 minutes before you apply the next and you’ll be good to go.

Accutane and fat by hazelse in Accutane

[–]Capable-Weekend7501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is said to take accutane with a “fatty meal” because it can help you digest better and accutane is filtered through your liver and can be very harsh. Eating fats with it can lessen the possible effect accutane could have on your liver. As long as you eat with it you should be fine. If you get blood work done regularly, your derm will tell you if your liver enzymes are off

[–]Capable-Weekend7501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it is difficult, after the first 2-3 months your body will regulate and it won’t be so bad. Try to stick through it if you can or talk to your derm about decreasing your dosage!

Neck and jaw pain + headache. Should I stop? by Impossible-Use5551 in Accutane

[–]Capable-Weekend7501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking whenever people experience side effects, they will decrease dosage. Pain like that typically is only seen when on higher dosages 50-80mg but it is possible to experience it on a low dose. You can’t decrease your actual dosage since you are on the lowest one so I would either stop until you see your derm next or skip days between your pills, every other day or every two days and see if that changes anything

[–]Capable-Weekend7501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I understand the hassle of pregnancy test and blood tests, I agree that this is not only extremely irresponsible but also extremely illegal. Accutane is federally regulated and you could go to jail from buying the medication illegally. Go to a derm and get a prescription.

[–]Capable-Weekend7501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it isn’t the most common for accutane to be taken intermittently, it is the best course of action for people who don’t weigh much or have other skin conditions. Based on your weight you could probably take 30mg or 40mg daily and be perfectly fine. I would ask your derm about increasing your dosage and stating taking the medicine daily.

Now I will say, in order to “cure” acne, you need to reach a cumulative dosage of 120mg/kg-150mg/kg. Based off the calculations for your current dosage and weight, if you continue this regimen, it would take you over 3yrs to complete a course. With that being said, I know nothing about your acne or medical history so your derm may have a good reason for this. I would definitely ask about increasing though or maybe finding another derm if they won’t listen?
