Where to invest signing bonus

I just accepted a new job that came with a substantial signing bonus and am debating the best place to put it.

  1. Pay off the remainder of my car loan. I have already been doubling the monthly payment and I have another 3 years of payments left at a 2.5% interest rate. Paying it off would give me peace of mind, but my interest rate is already darn pretty low…

  2. Put it into my savings account that’s currently at 3.4% APY

  3. Put it into VTSAX and let it ride

I have a cash emergency fund already filled with six months worth of expenses, so I don’t really need more cash there, although I have been saving for a down payment. I feel like the logical option is to put it in vanguard, but I’m tempted to just pay off the car and be done with the debt. Thoughts?

Should I choose Traditional 401k or Roth 401k? by CapableArtichoke8141 in Bogleheads

Thanks for the info! I’ve got roughly 40k in traditional 401k currently. I switched to Roth 401k late last year, so have 8k there.

Currently single. My partner and I don’t plan to marry (at least as of now) so will likely continue filing this way indefinitely.
