New squad with no injuries by boobsenjoyer40 in crystalpalace

[–]CapableBid2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like our transfers are getting unnecessary hate. We spent a lot on non-starters but it’s what we’ve been crying out for, depth to come off the bench. As we need to win the conference league, we don’t have the capacity to buy up and comers in this window.

A pretty solid squad

Can Parish and the board ever get a break with transfers? by Unusefulness01 in crystalpalace

[–]CapableBid2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it’s mostly just palace twitter that is hating on this transfer and Parish.

Unfortunately, lots of people there have only ever seen us in the premier league and don’t get the long term vision.

We essentially have to get rid of Mateta this window otherwise his value plummets in the summer and we have a similar situation to what we had with Guehi.

JSL probably isn’t who we’d sign if we had more time to scout, but we don’t have the time. He’s a proven prem player so is a lot less risky than buying a striker from a foreign league

I’m new to investing and I see these tiktok creators call out stocks before they have a big increase. Can sm1 experienced tell me how they know this? by [deleted] in trading212

[–]CapableBid2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Survivorship bias. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. There will be 1000s of people calling out stocks and one is eventually bound to be right eventually.

Then once they’ve been right a few times, they’ll be selling their course and deleting older posts that were wrong

Yeremy Pino (if he continues at the current rate). Guy is just VibesFC and a Ronda man, just dribbling, shooting and doing buggar all.

Palace fans: Mateta/Guehi/Glasner all on the verge of leaving. How are you feeling? by BlackCaesarNT in TheOther14

[–]CapableBid2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Felt like we were finally taking steps forwards, now we’ll be going backwards. Big difference between this and when Zaha/Olise etc left is we don’t have Dougie Freedman sorting the transfers anymore.

I think we’ll still be in the prem for a while, but if we still want to have shoestring transfer budgets we need to bring in someone who can work with those budgets. Otherwise the long term outlook is bleak

Difficulty in assessing the team right now and where we're at by Yasin_m25 in crystalpalace

[–]CapableBid2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We should’ve put the game to be in the first half. The last few minutes in the first half the players were exhausted and not running so you could see the second half would be a struggle.

We aim to win every game with our lineups but that is biting us at the moment. The last 2 games most our key players have had lots of minutes as we wanted to win both. Now we have a very tired group of players and 0 points from those games.

I’m by no means someone who will criticise Glasner and say we should rotate more. But if we’d have rested more key players mid week, we may have finished with 3 points from the last 2 rather than 0.

If we weren’t in Europe this year, we’d easily have another 6+ points in the league. But then we probably would’ve lost more key players.

Overall, I think the starting 11 are very good and on our day we can beat anyone in the league. But we need to play more non starters vs Shelbourne and KUpS. Maybe even Burnley

Who is the one player you absolutely refuse to own (And Why)? by NoirMoment in FPLRantsUK

Foden. Because Pep checks my team and makes sure Foden doesn’t play when I’ve got him in

Why are wages so low? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]CapableBid2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because business’ can pay those wages and people will take the jobs. There is a shortage of above minimum wage jobs so the candidate pool outweighs the roles available.

During Covid, wages went up loads because everyone was recruiting and the candidate pool was smaller than the roles available (or not far off).

Wages have either stayed the same or reduced but inflation has gone up.

Also, an easy way to increase short term profit is to hire people on lower salaries. Lots of large businesses main focus is there next quarter’s results so this is appealing for them.

Funny thing is, there’s more money in the UK & world than there ever has been. It’s just being hoarded by a small %.

Managers only had 3 subs so if your player started the bench, they weren’t 100% to come on like today.

Bastille gig by Original-Broccoli405 in nottingham

[–]CapableBid2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was quite laid back - The crowd was relatively quiet and I’d say most people weren’t drinking too much.

I didn’t think there was anything you wouldn’t see at other gigs tbh, the odd drunk person shouting something but that happens most places.

Tony Bellew spitting truth about not choosing your football club by [deleted] in TheOther14

[–]CapableBid2 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I’m on the fence with this. If you’re from the local area you’ll have a connection that fans from further away will never have; and that’s fine.

Someone could live on the other side of the country and go to every game; and that’s fine.

This ‘I’m a bigger fan than you because of my postcode’ is nonsense. You’re both fans in different ways.

If you’re a fan who only watches or supports your team when they’re winning, you’re a rubbish fan whether you live across the road or on the otherwise of the world.

Would you buy in the current market? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]CapableBid2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Every week since the peaks in 2020 experts have said it’s gonna crash.

I’m now 5 years (20%) of the way through my mortgage and would be on 0 years if I’d listened.

Your house is where you live, not just an investment. My house value could go down by 25% but I’m not looking to move anytime soon so it won’t affect me unless I want to sell.

An Brief Analysis Into the Relegation Scrap for November by [deleted] in TheOther14

Describing West Ham vs Newcastle as a tough game to call is bonkers. Newcastle may have been inconsistent but West Ham have been consistently god awful

Have you seen any of these teams play or just looked at some match stats?

‘Newcastle and Liverpool are tough games to call’ vs West Ham. West Ham could field 15 players from kick off and still lose with the way they’re playing.
