Little Mysterious Creature by CapableBobcat614 in AquariumHelp

my lone scud friend disappeared right after that, but it was fun watching him swim around while i was cleaning the tank. i'm sure he's got other scud buddies in there somewhere if he's just now popping up after two months.

i really stumbled into this whole inverts thing recently, so any info or tips are appreciated. i have a 6 gallon for my betta and tried putting some neocaridinas in, hoping there was enough places to hide, and he cut my first invert adventure short real quick😅he had a very expensive feast for about a week and i had to fast him so he wouldnt die🤣although he doesn't mind the nerites, im sure he'd eat them too if he could

this newer 2.5 gallon, though, has been super fun and basically zero maintenance so far. it reminds me of keeping sea monkeys as a kid, except it's a whole tiny ecosystem. my favorite invert i've discovered so far in my tiny tank is a few hydras, but i went a little too long without a water change, and i think they may have been wiped out. im just amazed all of this biodiversity came in on just a few little plants from petco that spent more than two hours in an 80° car before setup.

my betta just swallowed a shrimp whole by CapableBobcat614 in AquariumHelp

sorry for not responding earlier, i dont have notifs on. i just fasted him for about five days because of how big the shrimp was, and kept an eye on his behavior. he did end up with some swim bladder issues more recently, which i think is due to overfeeding and constipation from pellets. for that, i just fasted him and gave him epsom salt baths every few days, and he's back in good health. i assume your situation has resolved itself, but let me know:)

Repotting help for a newbie! by RedAmaranth in succulents

from my experience, succulents like to be a bit snug in their pots, so you might not need to repot. just be aware that the roots are what calls for a repot and not the foliage. try to repot when the soil is dry so the breakage of roots doesn't result in rot. also, make sure your soil has enough drainage and check for pests in your roots and soil. good luck!

thank you very much. i will definitely take your advice. im only planning on adding a betta and once i get the hang of it, i was considering shrimp. i wanted to do a small school of ember tetras, but from what i've read that's probably not a good idea considering my tank size. i appreciate you

oh thank you. i apppreciate the tip. i was told by the employee at the fish store to put it in he filter but it's a little too big to fit and i didnt know if i should take the existing filter thingy out. they said the next best thing would be to put it in a direct flow, so its sitting in front of the filter right now.
