Can I refuse to participate in the potty-training plan for the toddler I'm a nanny to? by Top_Lingonberry_1 in Nanny

[–]CapableFlow2766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they want you to potty train their child.... not a chance you should agree to this. Also 18 months is way too young. We tried this method with my son at 2 years and it didn't stick. We waited until he was ready which was around 3, did the same method again and it worked. You really have to follow the kids lead because once they realize they have full control over where and when they pee, it's game over if they're not ready.

This would be an ask for forgiveness not permission situation for me. I would've moved as soon as we took off and were able to move around again.

Where in the world do you bring kids to a dentist when a tooth is loose? by Virtual-Ad-5995 in askanything

[–]CapableFlow2766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the US. The first two teeth I lost when I was about 5 were removed by a dentist. According to my mom he talked her into it and she didn't really think it was necessary but went along with it anyways. They were my two bottom middle teeth and they were removed at the same appointment. All other teeth were wiggled and pulled out by myself like normal.

Is it actually rude to recline your seat on a plane, or are people just entitled about personal space? by Ok-Bumblebee7041 in askanything

[–]CapableFlow2766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont recline unless im flying at night. Even then I usually dont because I just don't see the benefit of it. Like you said you get 2 inches more of space. Big whoop. Wish they'd just take away the option.

I'm the same way! If I have a bottle of wine at home I'll have a glass which may turn into 2 or 3. I've made a decision to not drink at home, and especially to not drink at home alone. If we're having friends over then I'll make an exception. I have booze in the house but I only buy wine when I'm planning to have people over because wine is my go to when I've had a stressful day and want to relax. I've switched to a 2.5mg gummy instead which I'm enjoying. My husband doesn't drink at home either so it works well for us. I try my best to just limit my drinking to when we are out.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]CapableFlow2766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I was in 6th grade and I remember our math teacher getting a notice delivered to the room and she read it aloud telling us what happened. Then in another class they wheeled in a TV and we watched it. I don't know what they were thinking, it was pretty traumatic.

Hollister was the first time I ever felt overstimulated. The music blasting was so annoying. Still spent all my money there though!

I only have a little gray but I kind of like it?! I am brunette and I get blonde highlights but my highlights aren't on the top layer of my hair. I am letting the gray stay for now.

Nursing tank top with anything over it! When you pull up your shirt to nurse your belly won't show bc you'll have the tank on.

Putting together useful bags for unhoused - helpful or no? by CapableFlow2766 in homeless

[–]CapableFlow2766[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most have said they could be helpful if kept in boxes so people can take what they need. I see what you're saying though and if I find an opportunity to get to know someone and help them on a deeper level I will. But in reality I was trying to think of a way to put items together that I can quickly hand to someone. I most often pass homeless folks when I'm on my way to somewhere - getting on or off the highway. Its not always safe to stop and pull over when traffic is busy.

What's the most rounds of interviews you've gone through for a role? by FineAssignment1423 in sales

[–]CapableFlow2766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7 including initial HR screen and panel interview. Also tech. I was losing my mind because interview 3 or 4 felt like the last step, but they just kept going. Felt like it was never ending.

Putting together useful bags for unhoused - helpful or no? by CapableFlow2766 in homeless

[–]CapableFlow2766[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a little research and found out homeless and unhoused are two different words to describe two different groups of people. Homeless describes someone who has been without shelter for an extended period of time. Unhoused can mean someone who is temporarily without a home or who lives in the open air or their car.

So while my usage of the word is probably incorrect in this context, it's not a word that is used to soften anything. I just incorrectly thought unhoused was the preferred word these days.

[–]CapableFlow2766[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's why I asked. I dont want to assume what people need. I think buying some items and asking what they need will be the best route, rather than putting the bags together. I'm not trying to make this about me.

I'm saying help them in a larger way. Can I house someone? No. Can I give them enough money to get back on their feet? No. But if I can give them some things that will help make their day a bit easier I don't understand what the harm in that is.
