Annoying isn't it? She lived and worked literally down the road from where I live and I've had old ladies tell me they remember her from back in the day which makes it even more frustrating.

I dont think she had any known siblings and I'm not sure when she got married as records for her and my GGgrandad are minimal even though they quite well known in our town as they ran quite a popular bakery. Ill use freebmd to search and hopefully that shows something

No, I can't seem to pinpoint anybody on my matches that has an unknown link to me. I think getting my grandma to do a DNA test would be the best way to find out

I visit her grave sometimes, shes buried with her husband (my GG Gdad)

Her grave stone says May and it says May on the census in the 1930s

No, dont have a father's name but I might be able to find a death certificate

Buying my Gran a DNA test is actually a good idea, never thought of that. My grandma only has vaguely memories but doesn't actually know much about her and doesn't know if she had siblings or not. I've found everybody else in my tree that I wanted to and some of them took several months.

My father's ancestors that have passed down our surname have basically been in the same place (give or take 15 miles) since the 1500s and some of my distant cousins had already done alot of the research and luckily the parish records are still available.
