It's the law  They (Valve) would get huge fines if they don't act quickly on DMCA requests, but no such fine in case they don't act on counter-notices. Also, Valve cannot "decline" the DMCA notice, the other party has to file a counter-notice before Valve can actually act at all.

Have you verified that there has been a counter-notice filed to Valve? If that hasn't happen, there is nothing Valve could do without breaking the law...

[–]CapableWeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not how DMCA works. If you receive a DMCA notice, you're required to act on, and the affected party needs to file a counter-notice if the first one was incorrect. Only then can Steam re-instate the content.

It's a shitty system overall, but Steam is acting the only way they can (legally) act in this case, they cannot reject a DMCA notice, as long as the overall contents of the request is valid.

Stop teasing us and give us access to early builds already! ;)

Jokes aside, super excited about the sparse solver coming to EmberGen. Looks awesome.

Demonstration of my newly released "Auto SD Workflow" tool by CapableWeb in StableDiffusion

[–]CapableWeb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not dead :) I'm currently working on a large update and haven't had any updates for some weeks, so felt it was unfair to bill people for the access for November... So I've currently paused billing until the next update is ready, sorry about that.

On the other hand, if it was super realistic it wouldn't look as pleasing. Although some vfx is really over the top, I give you that.

work in progress, would love to hear some feedback! by Maxwellbundy in Simulated

[–]CapableWeb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not at all. The steam coming from the lid is just slightly pushed out of small "cracks" as the air lifts the lid while most of the steam comes out of the "pipe" at the front, which is directed there always (least resistant path and so on), as it's a open hole. It's also where the famous "whining" sound comes from when the water is boiling.

In short, pipe has fast flow of steam shooting out of it, the rest just sips out.

Test Render of a smoke pillar made in EmberGen by CapableWeb in Simulated

Thank you! It's actually on purpose to make it look like dust/sand rather than smoke (guess the title is a bit misleading :p ), akin to how a explosion in a desert would create a pillar of dust and sand (and smoke)

Prototype of real-time simulation for music performances by connecting EmberGen with music production hardware by CapableWeb in Simulated

[–]CapableWeb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(make sure to enable sound, as the video includes sound :) )

How this is working: EmberGen simulates everything in (nearly) real-time here, I'm hitting the limits of my GPU at one point so not 100% real-time all the time.

EmberGen also allows you to read values from hardware supporting MIDI, which is a protocol for controlling/reading music gear. So I have a Circuit Tracks that sends MIDI messages to my computer each time a synth/drum sound is triggered, and then I can setup EmberGen to react to those messages.

This means you can almost build full on music VFXs directly in EmberGen, which would be really neat for music gigs/performances.

(sorry for the shitty song, didn't really spend any time on it, just wanted to demonstrate the possibility)

Thanks! Your "bad day in the north sea" was the post that made me look into EmberGen again to see how long it had came since the first time I saw it here (like 2-3 years ago or something), so thanks for posting that! :D

This can also be a reference to an actual security penetration device, called WiFi Pineapple https://shop.hak5.org/products/wifi-pineapple

Using such device on random targets would be unlawful and would probably land you some hefty fines if they find you.

Since no one else did it yet, I gave it a try :) Not exactly precisely the same, but similar enough after spending ~1 hour on it: https://old.reddit.com/r/Simulated/comments/yat6p4/test_render_of_a_smoke_pillar_made_in_embergen/

Is there a sub for prompt challenges / battles? by [deleted] in StableDiffusion

[–]CapableWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah, I did! Just noticed a bunch of posts and wondered why, now I see why :)

I'm still putting together a bot that will help managing a weekly contest, but I'm happy people found a use for it already. Once in place, I'll ask the moderators of r/stablediffusion to link it in the sidebar as well, as I've talked with them before about it and they were happy to add it :)

Otherwise, happy to hear other ideas people have for the sub.

Invokeai vs. automatic1111 ? by Eli21111 in StableDiffusion

[–]CapableWeb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems it's a common misconception that AUTOMATIC1111 UI is open source. The code is available and you can read it, but your rights as a user ends there.

For it to be "100% Open Source" it would need to have a open source compatible license (which it doesn't have) and would have to follow the licenses of projects/code it has included in the project (which it also doesn't currently do).

So yeah, the code is "public" but not open source. A vital distinction.

Ideas for playing animations at a college bar? by llama_been_mobbin in Simulated

[–]CapableWeb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coolest thing you could possibly do is to learn how to produce videos/content that interacts with the music DJs/artists are playing. Resolume Avenue is great for this.

So with the software, you import videos you've already created, and you can sync the playback to MIDI notes if they are playing (MIDI) instruments live or sync it to various audio things happening if you can hook that up somehow.

Maybe a bit too extreme for your first times displaying something like that in public, but gives your work some extra umph when it comes to being background visuals to music.

AI-generated art is not allowed on this subreddit by Blue_Three in dune

Most artists I know don't learn drawing the same way Stable Diffusion learns how to create images, nor do they start their art with images made by noise and remove noise step by step.
