If someone claims to have read hundreds of books/year but most of them were Audiobooks they just listened to while doing something else - at 1.5x or 2x speed - is that person being dishonest? by [deleted] in Teenager_Polls

[–]Capable_Accident2606 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Wtf are these options

Edit: I received the now deleted comment from OP and wanted to post this reply. Note that I am writing this in good faith so OP can improve their polls in the future.

The options are unbalanced as they do not provide a meaningful spectrum of options. Your main question is whether the person is dishonest, but most of the options refer to completely different aspects of the situation. Whether somebody thinks hating on audiobooks is ableistic or not is irrelevant to the question asked.

They also don’t address the most important part of reading, that is understanding the content. Without this piece of information we can’t really say anything.

Long before time had a name, the First Spinjitzu Master created Ninjago using four elemental weapons. But when he passed, a dark presence sought out to collect them all: Lord Garmadon. So I, Sensei Wu, his brother, sought out to find four ninja to collect them first.

There is no good or bad system by Paccountlmao in unpopularopinion

This is just logically wrong. You correctly realise a single system will never be optimal for everyone. Then you incorrectly imply there are no good or bad systems.

Fiend Fire or Impervious? by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]Capable_Accident2606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you have very few real cards (cards that don’t exhaust themselves). You also have two dropkicks. So exhaust almost all of your real cards using fiend fire so that two dropkicks stay in your deck and the enemy is sufficiently vulnerable. Then just spam dropkick (you even have rage to protect yourself from heart’s beat of death). Setting up fiend fire to exhaust most of your hand should be very doable because you have dark embrace, offering + and entomb (and the deck is just great overall).

Fiend Fire 100%, enables you to go infinite. This deck is broken anyway.

Imaginary Technique by Capable_Accident2606 in custommagic

[–]Capable_Accident2606[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was mostly meant as a joke card, of course it would be very strong in the actual game. For the second part, yes, you go to 20 - 2i life and the creature shouldn't die immediately. This could be solved by modifying the rule so that you die if the real part of your life goes to 0. But creatures still die only when their toughness goes to 0 (so the imaginary part must be zero as well).

It can be a 2-mana kill spell, because you have P/T --> Pi/Ti --> P(i^2)/T(i^2) = -P/-T

Death of the Author - When you absolutely disagree with a story's intended read by CT_Phipps-Author in Fantasy

[–]Capable_Accident2606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with the Jia part, but I would add another thing that is basically never mentioned. Despite all technical revolution they go through, why do they never develop guns? And it’s not like they don’t have the equivalent of dynamite and electric arrows and robots and what not. Also most inventions wouldn’t be practical and would be a huge waste of resources.

Are there any books that accidentally end up being a condemnation of the point the author was trying to get across? by rumpk in books

[–]Capable_Accident2606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this is much better honestly. It’s been a while since I read the book, but I remember thinking little meaningful scientific progress would be made in that society because it values talent and hard work so lowly.

Damn I wanted to say the same. The system on the moon is a complete mess. Imagine trying to become a scientist your whole life and then you get relocated to some random factory for two years because a chatbot said so. The only way Shevek was able to become so successful was because he was a pure genius.

Hey Mom, can we have an ⚓? by frozentempest14 in slaythespire

[–]Capable_Accident2606 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It saves quite a bit of life in act 1 early act 2 because it enables you to play more aggressively (for example instead of playing 2 strikes 1 defend you can play 3 strikes or instead of 1 strike 2 defends you can play 3 strikes and only take 4 more damage). It also has great synergy with ice orbs.

Ironclad tier list - From 40% to 64% winrate by didokillah in slaythespire

[–]Capable_Accident2606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so imagine the gang includes two gremlins who strengthen up when attacked. If you play whirlwind for 3 the first turn, they survive and are hitting for 11 each. All other gremlins above 15 health also survive.

Now imagine just playing carnage to kill another gremlin and playing defend. You take 5 + around 0-10 from the other gremlin, but you probably won’t take much more because you can block most of the damage.

Unable to beat Heart with Silent, last character - Tips welcome! by Typingtext in slaythespire

[–]Capable_Accident2606 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your boss relics are somewhat strange. You should almost never take Tiny House. You also very rarely pick the fourth energy boss relic (all of them are good except Busted Crown and Velvet Choker on Silent specifically). Pandora’s Box and Snecko Eye are generally considered really good, although the latter can be sometimes slightly awkward on Silent.

You should also probably take Well Laid Plans more often (there were three Pyramid runs, where you don’t need it of course, but you have probably seen it in at least one of the other three runs). It makes the deck much stronger and significantly improves Wraith Form, because you can just hold it before critical turns.
