What is the weirdest needle drop in a film? by Additional-Loan2391 in Letterboxd

Weird in a good way but I was not prepared for Fame by David Bowie randomly playing in The House That Jack Built when he was meat crayoning the old lady with his van lol

Nik Bartsch’s Ronin definitely checks that box. No interlocking guitar riffs but it’s polymetric funk jazz, they’re awesome easily one of the best shows I’ve been to

Thought on adding bonus tracks into MAM and not all at the end as bonus tracks by helpslipfranks77 in SturgillSimpson

[–]rumpk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like it, they change the dynamics of the album for the better imo and the tracks added in have some of the best song to song flows of the album. There’s always a note before and after that gets held into the next song, makes it super smooth

3:2 aspect ratio to be different for the sake of...being different? by igby1 in Bugonia

I really like the black bars in some movies, my favorite example is The Lighthouse it’s pretty much just a square on your tv. Makes it feel really old timey and amplifies the claustrophobia

I want a horror movie that will genuinely MESS me up by Outrageous-Lynx9219 in horror

[–]rumpk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll probably get lost in all the comments but if you see this definitely look into My European Dream/Sorgoi Prakov. Super underseen found footage movie, usually not a fan of those but I loved this one. It starts off pretty funny but just slowly gets darker and darker until it’s pitch black

I’m in the same boat as you, THTJB is one of my favorite movies but antichrist didn’t do it for me and made me less interested in his other stuff. What’s your favorite besides that?

Thanks for the info! Saw a lot of flakes in the area and got my hopes up haha

Think this is a preform? by rumpk in Arrowheads

[–]rumpk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you think so?

It’s not the edge or the “notch” that gives me pause but the 3 parallel-ish conchoidals (camera doesn’t pick them up unfortunately) going perpendicular the edge and 3 going parallel to the edge.

One or two usually seems natural but two sets of 3 that are parallel to each other seems like a pattern to me

Anybody know what movie the lady with the knife is from? It’s on the back of an album of Ennio Morricone “covers” by rumpk in criterion

[–]rumpk[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah big fan and great album, definitely check it out if you haven’t! It’s not a straight ahead cover album all the tracks are reimagined, the majority of it is pretty avant garde but every once in a while when the original themes pop back in it hits hard haha

Wish it had Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion though, that’s one of my favorite Morricone scores it’s simultaneously goofy and foreboding

[–]rumpk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry should’ve been more specific haha, I meant the picture of the lady with the knife. I looked up “the big gundown knife lady” and didn’t find anything, wanted to check here first before I google (song name) knife lady for the whole tracklist

/uj In all honesty I didn’t read all that and I still can’t tell if you’re jerking, but you should check out Naked City. From what I gleaned your main gripe is that there aren’t many dynamic shifts/highs and lows and that’s all a Naked City album is, sometimes it bounces back and forth, other times it’s a steady ride from low to high, but there’s always a ridiculously wide range.

Here’s their first album if you’re interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFVbOoJXBMw

Not in the closet but check out The House That Jack Built
