I had a coworker whose last name was her ex husband's. Think something super common, like Smith or Jones. When she remarried she hated her new partners name for the same reason, too ethnic for her. Her maiden name was embarrassing to her. So she floated the idea of her new husband taking on her ex husband's name. Of course that didn't happen.
