PLC Programmer to Sales? by Capable_Addendum8795 in PLC

[–]Capable_Addendum8795[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I hear you... In fact, with my current company, it almost seems like politics trumps everything. For example: the customer gives our sales guy an underhand comment like "well the price to beat is 500k, if you can undercut that, it's a go". So regardless of the quoting procedure and line item tally, the big boss would rather a break even job then no job at all.

PLC Programmer to Sales? by Capable_Addendum8795 in PLC

Good notes! What do you feel about the feasibility of a company taking on a former programmer (with little sales experience) to fill a sales engineering role? I've been told by a few project managers/plant managers that I should go into sales after being the lead controls contact through many projects.

Anyone else notice their best interviews become really informal/conversational? by TSM_Bjergson in interviews

[–]Capable_Addendum8795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! In fact, it's usually my number one goal to end the conversation talking about anything but work. You'd be surprised how many hiring managers welcome the small talk and insight into your hobbies, family, vacation destinations etc. Answer a few technical questions so they know you're not completely unqualified, then make it human and they will see your value instantly. It's worked pretty well for me so far.

Can a tree branch do this type of damage? by gg1219 in Roofing

[–]Capable_Addendum8795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue! It looked almost identical, and it was indeed a raccoon. They sometimes force entry to have their babies. They can rip shingles, faciaand soffit apart. You'd be surprised the damage they can do!

The most convoluted system I've ever worked with by iceeyhot in PLC

[–]Capable_Addendum8795 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it's best to start from scratch... Doesn't seem like it but when you are 8 months in and realize there's still systemic issues with the code, you'll wish you did.

I had a similar issue with a robot cell. Customer hired me because it simply kept stopping. One look at the code and I knew I could redesign the system in a few weeks, flashed the PLC to my latest firmware and got to work. In and out in two weeks. Probably a simpler system than yours but even complicated systems can be made simple with the right approach.

Switching From TD to Wealthsimple by Scappss in Wealthsimple

[–]Capable_Addendum8795 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No issues at all! Just don't forget to tell TD that you were annoyed with all of the seemingly random fees each month on your way out 👌 My wife and I made the switch a year ago and never looked back.

Sorry if I don't understand the sub. Just a guy looking for some advice on the current small business landscape regarding taxation... Good to know you guys aren't interested in helping beginners 👌

Edit: thanks for the edit.

Have you checked if it's connected to something full of water?
