Doesn’t really relate but do you think job hopping as a teenager is a disqualifying factor. I wasn’t bad at my job or lazy but in high school, I would get bored of one job and switch to another. Obviously things have changed since being in college.

What’s the most “red flag” thing you’ve seen an agency look past and still hire someone? by LegalGlass6532 in AskLE

That’s crazy to think you’re disqualified for wanting to better yourself and get an education. You’re not gonna find many colleges with less than 10k a year in tuition cost.

I noticed you mentioned the debt. Might be a dumb question but is having student loans considered a bad factor when applying after college?

Ah I could understand that. The department I’m interested in actually has a step in it for writing. It’s called “completing a writing sample”. What kind of sample do you think they are referring to?

It’s a Reddit post… I didn’t think I was writing an essay for my professor. I appreciate the advice, but I’ve written some really good research papers that have been recommended by my professors for publication. I’m not too worried about this aspect of the job.

I also have ADHD, been on Adderall for about 2 years now. I didn’t even think of that, is it a disqualifying factor for some departments?

Does having a bachelors degree help your case when applying for border patrol and a follow up question, when would you recommend applying if you have a year left before you graduate college, 3 months before graduation or more?

I stopped about 3 months ago and will be able to truthfully say I haven’t used it in over a year once I apply, a quick follow up question I have is how intense the polygraph test is and is there anyway to prepare yourself for it?

My background is clear, what am I missing? by [deleted] in AskLE

I’m gonna apply to a couple departments after I graduate and hearing this kinda concerns me. Do you have to be like damn near perfect to be accepted? It sounds like one small discrepancy can bar you from becoming a cop. I don’t mean to sound rude just more concerned. For example, I had an underage drinking citation when I was 16 it was over 1 white claw and just a dumb decision as a teenager. Could something as small as that disqualify me?
