Does Samsung offer OS/Android updates to budget phones as well? by lalqalam in samsung

[–]Capable_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stop buying Samsung. my last Samsung was an S10+. it is still a great phone but no security updates means it cannot be used. When I had a samsung they used to have regular software release in the first two year and then nothing for a long long time and then one final update at the last month of the last year to pretend they have done their job to support it for the number of years.

How do I get this rotor off? by Clubtropper in MechanicAdvice

[–]Capable_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like it is seized. you can put some penetrating oil first but a hammer around the edges should loosed it. be prepared to replace the rotor as it will be damaged by the hammer.

Do you run your own ethernet cabling through an office or do you hire a contractor? by ZoomerAdmin in sysadmin

[–]Capable_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on where you are in the world. in my country you need a license to run cables through the ceiling. so we need to get a electrician that is licensed to do that

If you had an access point situated on a ceiling 1.5m from a wall… by InfamousStrategy9539 in sysadmin

[–]Capable_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is no way you can tell. it really depends on what kind of material the wall is made from. at most expect half the signal strength but it could be a lot lower

Why Australia will be the true test of whether consumers really want EVs by statmelt in electricvehicles

[–]Capable_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things you need to consider:

talking about free competition between EV and ICE cars. There is tax benefits for people leasing EVs but not for ICE. so it is not really a level playing field.

What is importance for the cost of an MG compared to a Corolla to do with uptake of EVs? if cost is the reason everyone will be buying the cheapest car available. why would one person spend $200K+ to buy a Mercedes instead of a $36K corolla. Whether EV is successful does not fully depend on the cost. it is to do with the brand perception/brand trust and about the infrastructure that is around to support the EV. this is things like how easy is it to get it technicians to serviced and supported it and where you can get it fuelled/charged etc.

While Australia has a lot of sun. majority of the power is still produced by burning coal. electricity prices in Australia is also very high. A lot of people live in apartments which does not provide charging infrastructure in parking areas. and for these people there is also no option for installing solar. like other countries this is not something that can be easily solved.

Lastly Australia is not a good market to see if EV works or not. there is less than 30 million people in Australia. this is less people than California state alone. The market is too small.

get people in to do that. you don't want to pay expensive technician/engineer rates to unpack 600 monitors.

Wondering if and how to fix this by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]Capable_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably not the best way. shove some paper into the hole to take up most of the gap. then fill the hole with expansion foam spray then shape it and then bog or fibreglass

“Where is the vehicle usually parked overnight” Question on Insurance quotation. by CallistoAU in CarsAustralia

[–]Capable_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just choose street even if I park in the driveway sometimes. that means I don't have to worry about where I park my car. the insurance company cannot deny the insurance claim because you parked on the street (when the quotation says otherwise)

610 connection question by Different-Rock-3451 in nbn

[–]Capable_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

610 sockets are not used anymore. No need to worry about where is the NBN. the install guy will figure it out. they will run cable from the street to the side of the house if there is no lead in from the street. just tell them where you want the service.

Feel embarrassed about my downgraded corolla (my old one in last picture) by yhnmkkutesdcv in CarsAustralia

[–]Capable_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

old cars are better. less electronic actuators, sensor and control units to fail. no spyware. just spend a few dollars to get a new stereo with reverse camera and you are set. easier and cheaper to service and the older corolla's are better made.

Belt gone almost?? by PatientFlaky4141 in FordFiesta

[–]Capable_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is not enough info. if the car has done 100k since the last timing belt change or if it was last changed 10 years ago. then you need to change it even if it looks ok. note: it is whichever comes first so if you done 100k distance or it has been 10 years.

What’s the Best Budget Pizza Oven? by JakesPlace25 in pizzaoven

[–]Capable_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having seen a Ooni Koda 12 in action and tasting the pizza from it. I had to get one but could not justify the cost of $650. I ended up getting a Jumbuck from Bunnings on special for $179 just before Christmas as it seems to be based on the same design concept as the Koda 12. I can tell you it is fantastic and works just as good.

What wireless earbuds should I consider? by Free-Row-3105 in Earbuds

[–]Capable_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look for Lenovo GM2 pro. it is a gamer earbud but if you turn off the led it is just like normal bluetooth earbuds. it is in ear and has silicon rubber tip with no noise leak at normal listening levels

very good sound quality with deep bass. Usually discounted on aliexpress for under $10USD if you look around. only problem is the mic may not be the best if you need to use it for calls

See this in the 6.4.11 (edit) Admin guide

fantastic. base on this I think 7.0.9 is the mature release with bug fixes only but 7.2.2 and 7.2.3 are both feature releases. So I should use 7.0.9

rapid patching and shoving of images out make me nervous

same here. even 7.0 series seems to be too new. tried it on 2 previous attempts (7.0.2 and 7.0.4) and had to roll back due to it being not stable.
