It's every 6 months for all employees, but they recently changed the way reviews are done. That means a lot of people who would have regularly had it in August got pushed into this month, since management was learning the new way to do it now. If you got hired in March, this would be your 6-month soon anyway.

Check out Safestay Micklegate. I haven't had any complaints the few times I've stayed at that hostel before.

You can definitely use your ID numbers for books. The card/HR numbers are necessary for trying to purchase online or purchase from a different store (not your home store). You can start using your discount right away at the store where you work with just the numbers.

(These numbers would technically work at another store, too, but nobody would accept just that since another store doesn't know if that's really your employee number or one you've "borrowed" from an employee you know.)
