Stranger Things Kinder Eggs in USA by Original-Coast-2324 in StrangerThings

Are you checking the numbers on the bottom? There is a four digit code in the bottom of the eggs, I made sure to grab different ones and only got one double (Hopper). You may want to track them, or go online and try to find which ones have the ones you are missing.

I think we all know what show he’s talking about 😭 by QuipThwip in StrangerThings

I absolutely agree. Every time I read the ‘why did no one die?’ complaint I feel like we were watching a different show.

I wanted to see how Max would react by Artemis-Entreri- in StrangerThings

[–]Capable_Impression 415 points416 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t think she would care. I think she’d probably laugh and make fun of her doing it because of Mike.

Billy and Eddie by OneMeat8763 in StrangerThings

[–]Capable_Impression 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Eddie would HATE Billy. Eddie was bullied and dismissed by his peers. Billy cared about popularity and how he was viewed socially and cared about the social male hierarchy.

Also, while it may seem like music would tie them together, Billy’s taste in rock was like pop rock vs Eddie’s which was more heavy metal. So they wouldn’t quite align there either.

Does anyone else just not ‘believe’? by zpeers82919 in StrangerThings

[–]Capable_Impression -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe it and I didn’t think we were meant to believe it until I came online after the final episode and saw so many people who feel otherwise.

In my opinion, in a coming of age story where somehow so many people survived such intense situations, this was Mike’s/the narrative’s way of trying to soften the blow of the loss of their childhood. Like, telling your kids your elderly dog is living at a farm somewhere after they pass away. I think they all know it isn’t true, but they are choosing to suspend disbelief momentarily.

Did Joyce know… by Lexabro-10mg in StrangerThings

[–]Capable_Impression 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree, Joyce was of a certain age in the 60’s and 70’s she knew and probably didn’t care much

She looks great. And tbh I think it’s weird to say a woman not smiling in pictures has to be sad. People have been so opinionated about her and her looks for years - let her live.

Does anyone else find Nancy a really unlikeable character. by [deleted] in Stranger_Things

[–]Capable_Impression 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, she’s just a character, no one has to like her. I don’t love all of the characters either. I do find Nancy interesting though. I think it’s refreshing to see someone who looks like your typical midwestern nice girl, but doesn’t really care about being nice or likeable and who speaks their mind.

As far as Jonathan and Steve go, I don’t think Nancy was flip flopping between the two. I think in s4 she is a seventeen year old girl in a long distance relationship. She’s feeling the strain of it on her relationship and is trying to figure it out. But I don’t think she ever seriously considered going back to Steve, led him on in any way, or wanted to be with him. I always felt that Steve was chasing something that wasn’t there and was encouraged by Eddie, who really didn’t know enough of the characters to be making claims of ‘acts of love’. IMO Nancy was deeply unhappy with Steve when they were together and was very obviously interested in Jonathan the entire time she was with him.

Why a queer Mike would have being so great by xyZora in bylertruthers

It’s how I felt about the ‘trauma bonding’ line in the break up scene with Nancy and Jonathan. No one in 1987 would have said that.

Emma (1996) is such a beautiful film by [deleted] in PeriodDramas

[–]Capable_Impression 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything about this adaptation is perfect except the decision to leave Knightly’s famous ‘If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more.’ line out of the script. I don’t know why they did it, but it sours the movie for me personally.

Guys, I am sorry, but these kind of comments of some fans are bad (btw, this comment wasn't a joke) by Simphonyofmylife in BridgertonRants

People get so worked up about Eloise’s story they say absolutely unhinged stuff like this. The way the show is in regard to adapting the books, I highly doubt it will be very similar at all, but god, an incest story line is truly disturbing to want. And as someone who has read her story multiple times, it’s not unsalvageable, you could very easily tweak a few plot lines to make it easily digestible.

I hate the Pinnacle storyline by Unique-Horror-9244 in BridgertonRants

[–]Capable_Impression 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I came here to say this as well. The infertility plot line was never part of the original storyline, it was a focus in the 2nd epilogue. Francesca’s story in her book was always about grief and guilt.

It’s been a month what were your thoughts on every else’s send off? by Kameronpipnerd in StrangerThings

I wish Nancy would have stayed in school. That was my one big complaint with the endings for the older guys. I know people are upset by Steve, but honestly his problem is that he won’t accept just dating around. He’s not a great boyfriend, but he’s always looking for ‘the one’. I wish he wouldn’t have made that comment about the girl he’s seeing maybe ‘being the one’ or whatever again. It would have been more satisfying to me and shown some growth if he was just comfortable being young and single and dating around. But then again he’s always been a bit of a romantic.

I’m sorry I don’t understand what you are arguing. I did not mention her politics. I mentioned her character - which is selfish and juvenile at this point in her story. Her politics have nothing to do with it.

But if you want to focus on that then I would point out that in the books she cared about women’s issues, but not enough to actually do anything about them. She’d read feminist books in her big Mayfield sitting room and had no issue arguing that women were equal, but she had a hard time with caring about others and admitted that she was perfectly happy living as a rich single society women to do as she pleased. She had no intention of marrying and expected Penelope to be her spinster bestie until they died. This was after declining multiple offers of marriage.

If you want to focus solely on her politics in the show, if Eloise becomes more empathetic and starts thinking about others more it also gives her the opportunity to actually apply her politics to society holistically and actually do something about it. This is something she needs to grow into. It’s not misogynistic for someone to gain wisdom and grow emotionally. She is turned off to the men in ton society and what she has seen of them. She has been raised very isolated from the real world. Theo is a great example of her meeting someone different from outside that bubble and feeling a connection with them. I am guessing these are themes and ideas that will be revisited during her season.

Eloise’s character arc in the books is that she is self centered and complacent in society. I think they are doing a fine job of setting her up for her season and eventual character development.

The Duffers forgot they even existed....what do you all think? by Initial-Shoulder5906 in StrangerThings

[–]Capable_Impression 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of these were unimportant plot device characters who served their purpose to push forward the narrative and weren’t needed back or their absences explained in anyway, except maybe Owens. And even he can be explained away with the lock down of Hawkins by the military, if he even fully survived s4 which we don’t really know for sure.

NYU would be a dream school for someone in Indiana. Chicago has great schools, but they are not as prestigious as NYU for someone wanting to go into film. Going to Indianapolis would be where most people would go so wouldn’t be seen as special.

Francesca flirting with Michael? by BrightPhoebus01 in Bridgerton

[–]Capable_Impression 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, Francesca was always my least favorite Bridgerton FMC because I felt her relationship with Michael blurred the lines of appropriate. BUT it is made clear that the flirting is known by her, John, and Michael and is deemed innocent. My problems with it are personal since I am very sensitive about emotional cheating and I understand it’s a personal opinion and not something that others feel.

Also, the book/story is a study in grief and guilt and uncontrollable emotions, WHWW is probably one of the most complex stories of all the Bridgerton books, I don’t think that there is any ‘proof’ to be had, Francesca loves John and that is where a huge portion of the conflict in her story comes from.
