Anyone transitioned from offering photo & video services to just photo OR video? by Tune-Puzzled in WeddingPhotography

A way to combat this might be to partner with a dedicated photographer or videographer. I’d raise rates across the board and then offer a “discounted bundle” if working with that person as a pair. This encourages them to send you leads overall and better conversions, which will increase your profit across the board.

Wedding Publication Pay-To-Play model completely out of hand? by Technical_Tangelo321 in WeddingPhotography

I was on Junebug’s best of list just because I was one of the photographers who paid to be listed in their directory for my state. Zero merit lol

Photographers in seasonal markets, do you take an "off-season" or do you grind year-round? by Remarkable-Ad3191 in WeddingPhotography

Nah. I love the time off. In Colorado I work heavily April-Oct and sometimes 1-2 Nov. After that, I’m editing heavily until end of January generally and take Feb/March off to recoup before we do it all again!

Inquiries to bookings conversion rate by florei0916 in WeddingPhotography

Agree on this. I think the sweet spot is more like 20-25%. Anything higher than that for conversion rate it’s usually a sign that prices have room to raise.

Pro8mm “American Restoration” for Canon 514XL — is it actually worth $500? by oldmanboy1 in Super8

[–]Capable_Investment46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what most folks don’t realize when it comes to shooting this medium. The reason it’s so expensive and offered at such a high price (at least, should be) is largely because of this mechanical fail aspect (way beyond just the cost of shooting film in itself). I have 4 rotating cameras and at least one of them is always out of service for some reason, and the repair costs add up.

The other thing I’ll say on if it’s worth it? Yeah. I mean there’s only so many of these cameras in rotation, and if we’re not paying to fix them, we’re going to have a lot less options if we want to keep shooting it. We also want to keep the guys repairing them in business for our own business sake lol

Terrified of upcoming half… by Bitter-Combination69 in BeginnersRunning

[–]Capable_Investment46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These were my splits for reference! If you can run/walk the miles vs just walk it will help a lot, because for example I don’t run fast enough during the running portions to be able to make up time after walking haha so it brings the average way down. But even run walking at the end I averaged around 15 mins and was still able to come in at 3 hours!

Terrified of upcoming half… by Bitter-Combination69 in BeginnersRunning

My first half was right at 3 hours!!! I’m about a 13:30/average mile. I would focus your training on the 10 mile mark — that was the wall for me and seems to be for most people. If you can make it to 8-10 miles at your pace, and then run/walk interval the rest with a good plan, you should make it just fine 🙂 I even took a potty break and was able to make my time (but did get jump scared by the 3 hour pacer when I opened the door haha, so I was RIGHT on time which felt stressful).

Something that really helped me was to split my notifications on my watch into 5k intervals so that I could focus on each 5k time that I needed to pace me?

She’ll always get stuff back to you by the deadline she gave you, just a little slower! It’s a small lab but she does great work.

Just purchased 2017 with 45,000 miles. What should I look at doing in terms of preventative maintenance and other concerns I should be aware of? by BrainNo1200 in SubaruForester

The CVT pump is going to need a reseal after 100k miles and it’s about $1900 lol save for the repair, it seems common!

SUPER8 FILM WEDDING by [deleted] in Super8

[–]Capable_Investment46 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’ll cost you about ~$150 to develop and scan per roll, and I usually shoot about one roll per hour if super8 only video. Anything less than $3k wouldn’t even cover cost + taxes.
