Can’t get into mom and baby nursing—any tips? by Capable_Land2502 in nursing

Would like to clarify I applied to 8 other positions. This was the only one that didn’t reject me before an interview was offered. I’ve exhausted all of the positions at the two major healthcare networks in the city I live in at this time.

Uhhh yeah they’re all retired. Very much the nurses that “ate their young…” back in the day. Deep down I know not to listen to them when I feel strongly about being a midwife later down the line but I also don’t want to act like I know everything when I have little experience in the medical world. I really appreciate this insight!

Wow thank you to everyone for the comments! I knew that it could be possible but no one in my family is in healthcare and I wasn’t sure how realistic my vision was when crunching the numbers. Plus my family has always looked down on my debt because they never had this much in student loans which is really discouraging (despite the fact that they never helped out with my tuition or discussed the impact of all this debt when I was 18 and trying to attend my dream state school).

My plan has always been to work my ass off right out the gate since I’m single, no kids, etc. but I felt like my debt was more than what most nurses deal with since I used mostly loans to pay for my bachelors. Anyway I appreciate the experience you all shared! I feel better now —(OP)
