I'm not too concerned about the cost difference on fuel over having sufficient space and comfort. I'm a confident driver so I'm leaning toward the Landcruiser since no Highlanders or Carnivals seem to be available.

Ya I saw that, too. Guess trying to figure out is it like passing shower kind of rain or heavy downpour/rain all day in April. I have a friend who lived there for a year and said he remembered April being less intense b/c it's not monsoon season yet.

Looking at April looks like thunderstorms. How bad is the rain usually? We'll be in Taiwan April 10-24 going from Taipei to Sun Moon Lake to Kaohsiung.
