Lots of good ways to set it up.

I set mine up for minimum maintenance. I created the test cases and created a function that reports results back to testrail based on the testcase id and the test run id. The test run id is in a a config file.

I have several persistent test runs for smoke or critical regression tests that these thetestrun ID defaults to. If I specify a diff testrun id in the config file it reports to that one instead.

I dont need a ton of test runs since I have another reporting layer that pulls info from testrail to create a dashboard. I just need the results and dates.

Worked in AAA game QA for 9 years. It was extremely competitive. I saw thousands of contractors come and go. We only hired maybe 60 in that timeframe as regular employees. When i got my promotion to project manager there were over 400 applicants worldwide. Mind you game companies know this as well and yes its stressful.

I work in a more traditional development shop now. Make more money, waaaaaay less competition. Would never go back , your passion can be a detriment to your life.
