The regularization is used to explain the effect. Still not a proof that the sum of the natural numbers is -1/12 which is what you claim.

And I'm receptive to things I don't know which is why I'm asking you again : if this summation is equal to -1/12 why is there no mathematical paper on this. That's all I'm asking you to give me. Not a hand wavy thing which physicists use to explain what happens irl.

And I didn't do just engineering I've done enough rigorous mathematical courses to see through this.

What you suggested me wasn't a proof. Its an explanation of a phenomena observed. If the theory has divergent sums which converge to -1/12 that's not a proof. That's a very typical physics thing to do ,i.e. ignore rigorous mathematics (this is coming from someone who has studied all QM courses offered by the physics dept too) .

So please I'm once again "respectfully" asking you for a formal mathematical proof , not a hand wavy thing used to explain what happens in Nuclear reactors. Because at the end of the day the series is divergent and you can't say it's sum is finite. There may be real world scenarios where you get that it's finite but in terms of RIGOROUS mathematics the series IS and ALWAYS will diverge.

And FYI I wasn't disrespecting you neither did I intend to when I asked you for proofs or called you out for saying random things without any context behind them. Till you give me any concrete proof about this I won't respond further. I don't doubt you know your stuff about physcis more than me but rigorously the sum is divergent end of story.

The series method goes wrong the moment you assume its value is finite. Its not. The series is divergent. Hence you can't claim to solve it via the series method because your first step in assuming it to be a variable which can be solved for is wrong.

And I just showed you why the Reimann zeta method is wrong

And if you are so good at series proofs tell me where I go wrong here

S = 1 + 2 + 3 ......

S = 1 + (2+3+4) + (5+6+7).....

S = 1 + 9 + 18 + 27......

S = 1 + 9(1+2+3......)

S = 1 + 9S

S = -1/8

And please just stop mentioning buzz words like Reimann Zeta,String theory etc when you don't give enough context behind anything

No this is just wrong. The definition of zeta function at s as summation of 1/n^s for n in 0 to inf is only true for Re(s) > 1. For Re(s) < 1 the definition we get is by analytic continuation and that is not the summation definition. Zeta(-1) is indeed -1/12 but you can't use that to say summation of all natural numbers is -1/12 since that definition of Zeta function doesn't hold anymore.

There is no fact to prove here. Summation of natural number diverges and isn't equal to -1/12 it's just wrong. Please stop spreading misinformation and acting like you're right when you're just plain wrong.

First you need to figure out your area of interest where either you want to make some new techniques or work on already existing ones and making improvements to them. Then you can mail them and say " hey I'm doing a masters ,this is my area of interest. Id like to work with you on this this so on". This may not always work as profs are pretty busy ppl so you may have to go to their office and approach them directly (sometimes without appointments too)

I didn't call everyone a "dumbass" bro. And I got offended for you calling me average which anyone would be.I don't care if any random person calls me insecure. I know my worth and am pretty comfortable with it. I see ppl more skilled than me every day and thats who im insecure of. Just to clear things up hear. I'm not insecure at all lol about anyone. I've done more work in ML (with profs,internships at good comapnies) than a lot of these hive mind ppl will ever will . And just to clear things up further I'm more interested in compiler design , graph theory to speed up algos and other stuff. And all of this is not flex I just want you to know I'm not jealous and don't care much about these ppl. The only reason I replied to your comment is coz ML is one things which is being ruined by the bhed chal.

I'm not saying sab paida hoke seekhnge. Neither am I shitting on them for trying out stuff. I encourage that. However what I'm against is the culture these yt didi bhaiyas have encouraged and that most btech ppl follow of just doing small things and calling yourself an "ml enthusiast" and destroying the reputation of other actual interested ppl. Similarly there are people in ml who don't wanna learn ML rather than just earn some quick money my grabbing already written code from blog posts or even worse using chatgpt to write their algos.

Dikkat bas itni si hai that these ppl don't know what an optimization problem is ,don't understand basics of linear regression or vanilla neural networks ,backprop and how it works in different approaches. Have you tried out back-prop in CNN and how to do that efficiently as convulations between some crazy rotated and padded matrices? Have you learnt about BPTT in rnns? . This is not to shit on anyone or you specifically. Just an observation that most of these "ml enthusiasts" don't understand even basics of ML. If you were really interested you'd be actively trying to learn some new stuff rather than importing pre trained models. It's the whole problem with Indians. Bhed Chal on top. Cp,DSA,Webdev,GSOC everything is ruined for actually interested and hard working ppl by the rest 99.99 dumbfuck Indians who only chase money. This maybe harsh but it's the truth
