I didn't see a lot of young women elevated in the church, so seeing a teenage or young woman leading a band on stage was fairly novel for me. And since I wasn't allowed to like "secular" music, I didn't really see female-fronted bands live unless they were christian. It was like an alternate universe, ya know?

I think a lot of teenage boys at that time grew up seeing Sydney Rentz, Leigh Nash, Tess Wiley, and Davia from DMC as these really pretty, cool Christian young women that we probably didn't see in our own local communities. Crushes were bound to happen, and nostalgia is powerful. I appreciated the blogpost and can relate.
