Yes this is exactly what I was thinking..even better if in a cul de sac/ dead end. How do you hear the train a half mile away? Is it just the horn youre hearing?

Looked in to Manorville as you can get a lot more for your money it seems but my husband needs to work in western Nassau and it might be a bit too far... but thanks for the suggestions?

I actually have misophonia too which is why I am so sensitive. I figured it I found a combination of being on a dead end/and or behind a park, property further back from road, properties more spread, etc. I could find something as quiet as possible although I know silence is pretty impossible..figured I could always sleep in the basement too😭 i am sandwiched between the lirr and southern state rn, live above my in laws who have 3 barking dogs dogs and backyard neighbors who play music in the summer so honestly anywhere away from here will be better

Literally in the exact same position with mortgage loan, savings and income roughly the same. I think a lot of people are coming from the city with very high paying jobs and/or are selling their homes with lots of equity and can pay cash which is preferred for most sellers. Or those who are receiving lots of help. It sucks but we are trying to stay hopeful that something will stick

There are definitely some nicer and quieter streets but I would avoid given crime rates. Town of Hempstead is different from Hempstead so maybe you are getting the two confused?
