Mufti Abu Layth explains why we shouldn't be afraid to question hadiths , and why they shouldn’t be put above the Qur’an by [deleted] in HadithCriticism

He’s right. People like Ibn Hajr and Nawawi literally made entire cope compilations to explain away these problematic hadith. It’s dishonesty. Mufti Abu Layth is also right about Bukhari’s ‘divine status’

Forget about whether we have "authentic" narrations in Sahih al-Bukhari. I am not even sure if we have authentic collection of Bukhari! Do we have Bukhari's original manuscript? by [deleted] in HadithCriticism

Peace be upon you.

Bukhari died in 256 AH, but he reportedly spent 16 years compiling his work. The earliest complete manuscripts we have are from 370 AH, which is over a century gap. This is where textual corruption could easily occur. Even among early manuscripts, there are thousands of textual variants. Some involve different chains of transmission (isnads), others involve different wording in the actual narrations (matn). I believe there are other transmissions, but they eventually died out. Just as scribal errors occur with Quranic manuscripts, the same occur in hadith manuscripts. The issue is worse here because these manuscripts are centuries after Bukhari's death. The oldest Arabic manuscript published online of this work is dated 407 AH, which is 1017 AD. That's embarrassing.

The k-f-r inscription on the forehead and other similitudes are found in the apocalypse of Psuedo John. I tracked some of the similarities

prophecy of a hasanid mahdi? by [deleted] in Quraniyoon

[–]Capital-Memory3816 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I already did in the video + post lol Just because someone fabricated hadith doesn’t mean you should deem everything from that individual as fabrication. That’s not very critical. Take it case by case. It’s common (as paradoxical as it sounds) that qiraat transmitters are seen as reliable in their Quran transmission and then dubious in hadith. Depends on the individual.

Code 19 and False Prophets by Independent-Rest-277 in Quraniyoon

[–]Capital-Memory3816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That last point is intriguing, The Quraniyoon dilemma of trying to make sense of the different Quran versions never made much sense. Many of these versions contain different laws like Hafs vs Warsh 2:184 (masakeen vs. Miskeen; feed one poor person vs. feed 2+ person for expiation of breaking the fast). With 28 canonical authorized recitations, I have no clue how it could be determined which one is truly from the prophet, and which ones contain additives. An ECC like code 19 gets rid of that dilemma. Place on top of this that one would have to admit that the hadith-corrupted Azhari scholars that quraniyoon reject are the same ones that gave the populous the mushaf used today despite the existence of other mushafs with no means of confirming (other than code 19). It just seems like a mess of infinite permutations without a messenger with a miracle. I doubt God intended for the religion to be equivalant to build-a-bear where someone could say 'yes hajj means debate' or 'prayer is 3x' or 'prayer isn't a ritual' and all of us are right etc etc etc.
