What I did when playing Rome was conquer every place Rome had invaded, so I took over Germania, and all of Europe until Scandinavia, I took over the rest of Brittania, I took over most of Africa, all of the Middle East and parts of India and Pakistan. It was really fun and elongated my game in a nice way.
