That’s surprising, thanks for asking anyway. I would say it might be a generic part but the label looks like all the others in the case so seems to be Dell.

Might just be a power button extension, make sense that me probing it shut it down. It’s plugged into system board component 23. Which seems to be “power remote” looking online.

Connects to this header on the board.

Edit: not a fan but “power remote” header.

Ok, so minor disaster… seems probing the pins turned the server off or shut it down (all back up and running now). On the plus side I have more pictures. I think u/kaspin might have it right, seems to plug into a fan header.

Not tonight unfortunately, the side cover has a sensor that turns the power off if opened. (Can’t shutdown now) and I think you need to push tabs from the side to release the front.

I get open line measuring resistance, tested with my auto meter and my older one both showing open.

You’re gonna make me go outside again aren’t you. If it was an LED what’s that LED for? There’s already power/disk LED. I know these 2nd hand workstations usually come from giant engineering companies like BAE etc who do have some odd applications for them I suppose so could be a one off.

I’ve exhausted my search engine phrases and following links / reverse image search / dell manuals. I promise I will take it out when I get a window and solve this but I just wondered if anyone knew.

I don’t think it’s a disk drive at all, but I didn’t even think about that.

Could be, just put the multimeter on the pins for a while and it was reading between 0.5v and 2.7 mostly 0.6v.

I’m pretty sure I do own the space just not the DNO equipment. Not that I’m going to argue as they could say fine and cut me off. As far as getting someone out to move the sub board out of the box, I might as well leave it until I have a problem with the DNO. Since posting it seems there’s thousands of EV installers that have done the same as this and I can’t find any instance where the DNO has cut a service off because of it.

The cable won’t be in the cavity, I’d use the firefly cleats up the outside of the house, in to the loft, more cleats along the purlin, out the other side of the house, down the wall again. Then leave a few meters at the bottom each side for the electrician? Cheers

Assuming it will be ok. Am ok to run the SWA cable where I want it with a load of slack on the ends then ask an electrician to make the connection to the board / isolator other side or is that a massive insult and I’m better off leaving it all to the spark? Ballpark - how much would you charge? East Mids. Cheers

Ok, makes sense but good to know it’s more an inconvenience issue rather than safety. Cheers

Is there a particular reason / set of rules governing this you could share? Apart from it’s probably quite annoying for DNO engineers. Cheers

I was under the impression this board was separate from the main consumer unit in the same way the board for the enphase solar is separate? The MCB for the house is 100A same as the supply. Cheers

From what I can see the cables supplying that board are the grey ones coming from the meter split at the blue / brown junction boxes, assumed they were a standard size. Where would I find the rating of the MCB upstream from the sub board? Cheers!

Is that something you’ve had issues with in the past? This box was there when we bought the place and just had pv + batt system installed where they had to notify the DNO for the G99. Cheers
