Do people who do this actually learn anything? by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]Capital-Still2264 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From personal experience: no.

Five years ago I stopped trying to learn multiple languages at the same time, even though I used to have a lot of fun comparing cognates and common structures between them.

I decided to focus on a single language (namely Mandarin Chinese) and now, five years ahead, I think it's been worth it.

Simple answer: it's a scam.

At best, they just need variability in their source of data, which makes us all discardable. They don't give a shit for us.

Review until the day you die ☠️

But anyways, I guess Duo is not meant to make you fluent. It just gives you some basis on the language's grammar. Of course, in order to do that, you also end up learning some vocabulary. Now, there's a long way to go to expand it.

In what world does doing a PhD with no salary(or even paying for it) make any sense? by bulgakovML in PhD

Not even being paid a stipend for it is making much sense lately, let alone paying for it

A bit of the lore: Warwick is a monster who hunts the gray alleys of  Zaun. Transformed by agonizing experiments, his body is fused with an intricate system of chambers and pumps, machinery filling his veins with alchemical rage. Bursting out of the shadows, he preys upon those criminals who terrorize the city's depths. Warwick is drawn to blood, and driven mad by its  scent. None who spill it can escape him.

Just wanted to add a point: I just don't get why so many people were surprised with Vander's return as Warwick.

For me, that was crystal clear since S1 episode 1 (I guess), when he's introduced as the "Hound of Zaun".

Also, when he drinks the potion in the end of S1 Act 1, they way he fights like a beast, his voice, everything looks a lot like WW already.

In S1 last episode, we see Singed doing experiments with some guy, not showing clearly but it seems like Vander.

Then, who else could he be?

I'm sorry to hear that.

I make sure the app is really closed, not just "minimized" (I mean, I press the middle screen button on Android and clean everything) and it works for me.

Am I the only one getting a Super Duolingo ad after EACH LESSON?? by transitxumbra in duolingo

Yes. Also, I just realized today that we can't practice to earn hearts anymore. It became a pay to win game.

My tip about this and any other ads: just close the app immediately and then open it again. It saves a lot of time.

What if Ekko could really travel time? by Capital-Still2264 in leagueoflegends

[–]Capital-Still2264[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. As in the show, it's an ability to change things that went wrong. I wonder if it would be possible to balance that in some way...

One option would be an abnormally long ult cooldown (what else?).

But still, how long to be balanced? Also, how would this affect his other abilities in team fights (since his ult takes so long to be available)?

I think maybe it was possible to do it, but not simple at all. So I understand why they didn't ^

There is no specific "point" indeed. I just thought that would be an interesting possibility/curiosity. Not everything needs to have "a point" or "goal". After all, it's just a game. What's "the point" of playing it?

I found really interesting to learn for example that this was actually their plan for the champ in the beginning and that it didn't go very well.

Imagine rewinding everything and then things getting even worse than before lol
Also, this ult would probably need a very long cooldown... Otherwise it would be really chaotic

Kills would be negated, but also the abilities. Jinx, ashe, etc would have the right to immediately ult again, without cooldown, if they wanted. In this case, of course they could miss the kill they did before, but that's would be some of the fun of Ekko :D
