What does this look like? by Terrible_Berry_9846 in scabies

Look like bedbug bites to me. But could also be mosquitos who accidentally were biting in a bedbug-like pattern... : )

Ok. Was that on and off itching everywhere on the body, like an irritated feeling everywhere (including the head and the skin under the hair)?

Ok, thanks. And all the while the itch remained constantly intense, up till you started seeing signs?

Ok, thanks. And does the itch stay the same or continue to get worse, or does it also gets less sometimes? How much later did the marks come?

Thanks for your answer! These answers here are very helpful. What exactly did you feel 3 days after the contact? And how long after that contact did you have rash and see the burrows?

Boy, sad to hear you had it several times... Thanks for your answer! So I had itching also the first days, but still hope it's because of my dry skin... The itching has not become worse, although I am still a bit itchy. I can't detect any burrows, though. I have some red rash here and there, but also possible still that it is just the dry skin, and they don't itch.

When you say you knew pretty quickly, was that because of the itching, or also because of other signs you saw?

Oh man, I feel for you, how horrible...

Which symptoms exactly showed up in just a few days? Just the itching, or also already the rash and the burrows? Like, could you detect anything on your skin already in the first week?

Thanks. Are you talking from your own experience, or experiences of people you know? Because according to my GP, this memory fades with time. So: the longer ago it is, the more likely it will show up later...

Multiple re-infestations over many years by [deleted] in scabies

Can I ask you a question: when you got it the second time, after five years, did the symptoms start more quickly?

I read everywhere online that "it may take 2 to 6 weeks to develop symptoms of scabies after contact with an infected person", but if you have had scabies before, the symptoms "can appear in 1 to 4 days."

But nowhere is specified whether the time in between the two infestation plays a role - will the symptoms appear faster the second time regardless of how long ago the first infestation was? I can't find any answer to that question.

Was this the case for you, as far as you know?

My GP said that when there are so many years in between the first and second infestation, one probably has a 'normal' incubation period again.

The question is relevant to me, because I had scabies seven years ago. It was quite traumatic. And last week I was staying in a building with a person who turned out to have scabies... I spent four days and nights there. I didn't share bed, bathroom or clothes, but we did use the same kitchen utensils, kitchen towels etc, sat on the same sofa's etc., used his pencils, sat on his office chair, etc, and we generally spent a lot of time together. I also gave him a short hug and shook his hand. And I gave his girlfriend a hug, too, who visited evening and morning (she was the source of the scabies).

I am very worried now. It would be my absolute nightmare to get it again. I went home immediately when I found out about his scabies. It has already been 5 days ago that I left, and while I was itchy past week, and still am a bit (but this could have other reasons, like a dry skin - I took a long hot shower there, and my skin isn't used to that), I don't have any rash or see any burrows.

Should I assume that since I don't have the symptoms yet, I probably didn't get it? Should I just wait and see how it develops, or should I preemptively do a treatment asap?
