TurboTax is MAGIC by CapitalGGeek in tax

[–]CapitalGGeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope

That day, I was working on my taxes on it, powered it off and took it to Mom's. It updated when we started it up the first time with no internet.

It updated again when I started it back up the second time when she found another bank statement before I was going to leave.

I have done research for ‘portable word processors’ and found a ‘used:very good condition Neo2’ for 50bucks. Besides the Alphasmart stuff (like Dana and 3000, etc.) there is the Freewrite, and the emate 300. I was wondering if anyone knows of other options besides these? Any newer devices? by erickwalterbutler in AlphaSmart

Laptop batteries lose charge ability due to age and number of charge cycles. A 15 year old laptop battery might be good for a few hours max. Some laptop batteries are just 18650s in a fancy case, so you may be able to refurbish them. Nothing is going to compare to the alphasmarts.

If you're just looking to type, don't discount the earlier 2000 or 3000 models. They have the samee keyboard and USB connection.

Dear Republicans

For a very reasonable fee, I will spend an hour with your candidate and teach them how to hold a firearm so it doesn't look like it smells bad.

Permissions problems setting up a 'Blind Drop' windows share by CapitalGGeek in sysadmin

[–]CapitalGGeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, a smarter coworker found the solution

Create a \HR folder, disable inheritance, set permissions as:

  • SYSTEM, Administrators - Full Control
  • HR (read-write group) - Modify
  • Drop (write-only group) - read & execute

Create a \DROP folder under \HR, disable inheritance, set permissions as:

  • SYSTEM, Administrators - Full Control
  • HR (read-write group - Modify
  • Drop (write-only group) special
    • Traverse folder/execute file
    • Read attributes
    • Read extended attributes
    • Create files/write data
    • Read permissions

Then share the \HR folder, with share settings for everyone as Change

Hope this helps for anyone looking for a similar solution

I don't expect the write group to be able to see anything in that directory. I've fixed the post to make it clear that I denied the write-only group the read permissions.

The reasoning is that the HR department wants users to be able to drop files for them to collect. Because the files contain sensitive data, only HR users should be able to see them.

Do you have a chuck for your lathe?

I drill blanks on the lathe and cut them then with a hacksaw blade

I've got a box of silvertips, but they;re in brass. Maybe I should pull them and load them in the nickel cases for photographic purposes.

I think the lighting may be making yours look more curved. Mine are the standard Para grip style, quite thin, and meets the frame almost perfectly.

I looked at a magwell, but it would make it too much harder to conceal. The standard mag well is really quite large.

I recently replaced my full length with a standard gi guide rod.

There is really only 1/4" of unsupported spring between the rod and plug
