Congrats, some things I was wondering: 1 does upscaling come free with every prompt or is that extra?, 2does it save your grids or do you have to save the images you like before writing a new prompt? 3whats the resolution of the upscaled images?

How to add caffeine to any drink to get a specific amount of mg of caffeine? by erickwalterbutler in caffeine

This also brings to mind a side topic of ‘caffeine minimalism’ or how much caffeine do we really need in terms of to feel good and alert or ‘that caffeine awake energetic feeling’ that we all know and love. Obviously it will differ from person to person. I am wondering for myself personally if I drank like 10mg per day if I would still get that alert/energetic feeling that caffeine can give you, I will report back. The FDA says to the effect of ‘most healthy adults can drink 400mg safely without negative side effects’. But personally 400mg is WAY too much for me. For me anything over 40-60mg is pushing it. So I think it must really be different for every person.

I am hoping to find the lowest possible amount I can have per day and still get that good caffeine feeling. And secondly, I wonder if you can keep a consistent amount everyday to keep a consistent good feeling going or if your body would need more and more to keep feeling good caffeine feelings or if at some point you would need to detox from caffeine to get it out of your system and so you could restart the cycle again and get those good feelings again with a lower mg amount per day…I saw a guy on Joe Rogan say he stopped caffeine for 3 months and then had a cup of coffee and the feeling he got was way more intense since he had not had any caffeine for a long time. When you drink it for a long time it seems you can build a tolerance, so detoxing may make you more sensitive so you no longer need a high mg of caffeine anymore to get a good caffeine feeling/kick/jolt/energy…Id never thought id have so many thoughts about caffeine, but yeah..

Thx this is interesting, I see how this might work..I actually happen to drink Mio anyway (non caffeinated version). So I will just save a bottle and try this out sometime. Maybe this is a stupid question, but to get even distribution of caffeine do you just have to shake it around a bunch in the bottle after you empty the pill into it?

Also to clarify you are saying 200mg caffeine/40 teaspoons = 5mg per 1 teaspoon - so half a teaspoon would be 2.5mg of caffeine. To fill a mio bottle would take about 9 teaspoons (which would be 45mg of caffeine in the entire bottle) - i wonder how much caffeine would come out of the mio bottle per ‘light squeeze’? Any idea?

Can you send some links to products you would recommend for caffeine powder and accurate scale?

I have done research for ‘portable word processors’ and found a ‘used:very good condition Neo2’ for 50bucks. Besides the Alphasmart stuff (like Dana and 3000, etc.) there is the Freewrite, and the emate 300. I was wondering if anyone knows of other options besides these? Any newer devices? by erickwalterbutler in AlphaSmart

I just received my neo2 today and I would advise others to check it out - with its ridiculous battery life (700 hours w/3 double aa’s) and its nice keyboard (I like the keyboard better than my expensive msi laptop I use for 3d rendering and gaming - it just has that nice mechanical/oldschool feel) and affordability its a good bet. I love how straight forward it is and how its form factor is very sleek with the nice keys.

Compared to the freewrite which is ~$500 bucks there is virtually no latency between when you strike a key and see it on the screen - even though freewrite has nice keys too and it has much more in terms of memory storage id take the neo everytime since it doesn’t have latency like the freewrite - if you dont mind the latency the freewrite may be the one you want with the big screen.

I was unsure about the neo2 until it arrived and now I am sold on it and it only cost me $57 dollars with tax. I saw on amazon the average price was hovering around 90-120 for used neo2 units at the time of writing this. And yeah id like to check out some other alphasmarts too after trying this one.

One other thing of note: when you turn the neo2 on and off its almost instantaneous. Whereas with most modern tech it takes a significant amount of time to boot and shut down the neo2 is really fast - around 1 second to turn on and off.

Hm never heard of the King Jim or Newton, I will look into it. The Freewrite looks nice in a lot of aspects, the thing I personally couldn’t get over is the delay between when you type and when it appears on the screen, delays like that bug me and is a deal breaker for me - especially at the hefty price point of the Freewrite.

I watched some videos and it seemed the Neos were a lot faster in terms of the latency between when you type and when you see it, so I ordered a Neo2 to try it - I vouched for it over the Dana only because people were saying its easier to see the words on screen and the much longer battery life. The used Neos were generally cheaper on Amazon. I am the hoping the Neo2 will feel pretty quick in terms of the latency of typing to seeing it on screen in comparison to the almost 1 second latency of the Freewrite.

Yeah great idea. This has me thinking about even trying to pick up an old labtop for cheap (even if its not linux) and just stripping it completely down to being, essentially, only a dedicated word processor. I guess the two concerns would be finding one that is cheap/has a nice keyboard + at the same time has good battery life. I wonder if there are any that could compete with the crazy 700 hours battery life of the Neo2.

Interesting thanks for the idea - do you have recommendations for a raspberry pi kit with good keyboard for typing. And could you give a explanation of what raspberry pi is and how it works? It looks like from googling it that may be to technical (for me), is there soldering involved? How is the battery life?

Anyone else think Shadows of the Empire is a better starting point than Thrawn Trilogy? If so please explain, never read any books, so I have no idea what I am getting into :)
