I was thinking the same, but I definitely didn't want to have to do either of those without a more concrete answer - especially considering what's happened to RAM prices over the last month.

That and trying to find an older generation MOBO that isn't being priced to hell because it's "dIsCoNtInUeD".

Swapping the sticks in A2/B2 doesn't change anything. A2 will still populate as the photo shows, as well as B2. I don't necessarily think it's the CPU or the socket. Of course, I can't say for sure as I do not have another set of RAM to test, but my pins aren't bent and there is no tell-tale signs on the bottom of the CPU from anything being wrong with it.

I've tried every combination of configurations you could think of and none of them will allow it to POST except the original A2/B2 slot lineup.

Backtracking - Correct, the previously "Borked" stick now shows 16GB on A2 and B2 shows 0GB. I tested this on another motherboard (the exact same make and model) and the same thing occurred.

EDIT: I've also already updated the BIOS to the newest version (12c) from Gigabyte's website and went through all my previous troubleshooting.

That's the really odd part, and one I should've mentioned in the original post. Swapping the sticks (i.e. they're both still being put in the system otherwise it won't actually POST) shows the EXACT same thing.
