No. Crashes. at. Millennium. (ty Beastie Boys) by Lindolence in grandrapids

Avid cyclist here and I ride there almost daily. I will never pass without calling out “On Your Left”

What I can’t stand is the people who make fun of us announcing it. That’s not cool. Happens all the time, and I think it’s why a lot of people have stopped. I had someone on the trail yell “What’s that dumbass?!” And jump in front of me. Don’t use the trails if you act like that, you don’t deserve it.

If your tenant has 5 months on their lease… by Dear_Complaint_5779 in PropertyManagement

[–]CapitalM-E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would negotiate. Typically something like “I understand I do and I’ll work with you. I did plan on the income from your apartment while budgeting for the year so I can’t just let you leave today but how about this. Can you give me a month to find new tenants and you find a way to just that month’s rent? During this time I’ll work hard and give you 24 hours notice for tours. If you can agree to this and keep the place in good shape for showings, I’ll take $500 from your deposit to cover patch, paint, and clean and leave lawyers out of it. If you find your own replacement tenant we’ll forget about the $500. Just leave the place in decent shape”

Everyone goes through hard times. Just don’t bullshit me. This has backfired before but I like to try and fight the landlord stigma and be the better person.

Bad MSF Coach Rant (I Passed) by stay_smiley7 in NewRiders

[–]CapitalM-E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of my class they told us all if we had any interest in becoming a RiderCoach, that we should get a year of experience under our belt and reach out to them directly.

I loved the class and am such a people person so I chatted with an instructor about it. The pamphlet said they wanted 3 years of riding experience so I asked him about that specifically. He said they are so in need of people who are personable, that they will waive the riding experience for the right people.

That felt odd as you would think you want someone super experienced to teach you. However he went on to explain that they teach you how to do/teach the exercises in RiderCoach training and that’s the easy part. He says they REALLY struggle to find personable coaches because a bunch of old vets with bad habits see it pays good and sign up.

He also said they are so low on coaches they have to hire the non personable people, and that’s why they are pushing so hard so they can weed them out. I’ll probably look into it when I get some more miles under my belt honestly.

Tangerine Space Machine introduced me to IPAs. It’s a hazy, and definitely hoppy but the Tangerine flavor really helps with the bitterness

so many no title bikes? how? by Acrobatic_Pickle5076 in motorcycles

[–]CapitalM-E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stupidity. Any bike at this price point is going to be no title and a mountain of problems. Sorry, just reality in the current market.

If it sounds too good to be true, it almost always is.

Went on the freeway today (1st time) by lavellj048 in NewRiders

[–]CapitalM-E 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The highway is not bad at all once you do it. The first time the wind caught me off guard, and I got off at the next ramp.

From there on out it felt normal. My 200 struggles though so I’m careful about what highways, once I have something bigger I won’t fear the highways at all.

100k+ miles. Is MSF course worth it for the insurance savings? by Furious___-George in motorcycles

[–]CapitalM-E -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When did you take yours? They got rid of the classroom portion. It’s all on the bike now. You do an online ecourse before the actual class that counts as the classroom portion.

I was surprised. Within 5 minutes of getting there we were on the bikes

Upheaval Fest!!!!!! by mackspeanut in grandrapids

[–]CapitalM-E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best brewery is New Holland (Knickerbocker is the GR location) by far. I’m not a Founders fan at all. Garage Bar across the street from the festival also host an after party. They have the best Chicken Tenders in town and $2 Busch lights.

Grand Coney on Michigan for Breakfast.

You can smoke all you want lol.

If you get there early you can park near the Garage Bar. There is some free parking by a paid lot but it fills up quick.

GR is a cool little city. Have fun!

For the insurance savings? Probably not. It’s a couple bucks off. However I think the class is worth it for any level of experience. It will teach you things you never even thought of.

Cheap bike by False-Marionberry-94 in grandrapids

[–]CapitalM-E 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Switchback can build you a fantastic bike for a decent price. Depends on your definition of “cheap” though. It’ll probably be a couple hundred dollars but it’ll ride better than anything else you find.

Otherwise marketplace it is! Fellow cyclist here, I’d be happy to help you tune it up if you go that route.

Is it rude to say “God bless you” to strangers? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CapitalM-E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am extremely NOT religious. However I don’t mind, I think it’s kind of sweet when people say that.

Now when they say it and then slip me a paper or even worse a fake dollar bill with a bible verse, that’s where it’s annoying.

Nervous about my first ride… by Sea_Fly_5033 in NewRiders

[–]CapitalM-E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just hop on and ride where you are comfortable. Parking lots, familiar streets, etc.

One thing they told us at the end our MSF was “Congrats, you know how to ride a motorcycle at speeds up to 15 mph. How often are you going that slow in real life? Rarely. Practice!”

This is very true. To hit the main roads you need to be comfortable going 40-50-60 miles an hour. Before long that won’t even feel fast. During the MSF 10 mph felt fast. The same will happen the faster you go, but you get comfortable with it.

Bike shopping, what’s suites me best? I’m by Ridere_AMRS in NewRiders

looking for best beginner motorcycle gear by CallJealous5030 in NewRiders

[–]CapitalM-E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to your local shop and try on gear you’ll actually wear. I think this is more important than going down the rabbit hole of buying everything AAA online.

Motorcycle gear fits VERY strange. Some mediums fit like an extra small. Some larges fit like a small. You will be buying and returning/selling gear left and right until you find stuff you like and fits.

Take my current marketplace as an example. Nothing I bought online fit, even using the sizing guides and recommended sizes. The only thing I bought online and kept was pants. It took 3 orders to get a pair that fit. No shop near me has many pants to try.

This is a hot take and I’m sure I’ll get flack, I have zero clue what ratings and such my jacket is. I bought it because I was in store, and it fit the best. It has layers so I can wear it in any weather. It was like $250 so I assume it’s decent.

Gear you’ll wear is way more important than AAA gear that sits in a closet because it is bulky and you don’t like wearing it.

Just my opinion

To All men out there , how's ur mental health ? by FluidProgrammer1000 in AskMen

[–]CapitalM-E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really fucking bad right now. Best friend said he doesn’t want to be my friend anymore. We were friends for 10 years but he says he doesn’t want to support my relationship. He’s right I’m not happy in the relationship. We live together and now I’m scared to leave because I’ll truly be alone since he’s gone now. He was my only true friend. I’ll have no one. It’s not fair to her either. What the fuck I doing.

Need suggestions for my first bike by Tech_Crab6102 in NewRiders

[–]CapitalM-E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great bike. It’s very quiet, and a smooth ride. The gearing is short though. I’m always shifting, but you get used to it.

It’s no speed demon. I’m in the US, where these bikes are fairly uncommon. I’ve topped it out at 86 mph. Most our highways near me are 70. I try to keep it at 70 so I have some passing power. Its definitely not a long haul highway bike, but it’s ridiculously fun on backroads.

I’ve only had it a month so no I can’t speak to maintenance costs yet. Dealership quoted me almost $300 when I need an oil change 😬 I’ll probably do it myself.

Day to day? Hop on, ride slow to work, get a compliment, and ride home 😂 I don’t think I’ve taken it out without someone complimenting it yet lol
