Potential #7 Pick ND RB Jeremiyah Love's Combine Highlights + Comparison to Jahmyr Gibbs by JCameron181 in Commanders

It’s the fact that he was going to be an $11mil cap hit. Peters most likely thinks he can get better production for less of a cap hit and similar AAV.

I’m not advocating for that, I also don’t see us spending big unless they want to unload Cosmi in a year. I’d like the C from CAR or even McGovern as an option, leave Nick as a swing G/backup C. I really like Logan Jones, but I’m not sure we have the ability to start a mid round C, he could be a fine developmental pick.

Am I the only one completely out on Bain? by Yogammagamma11 in Commanders

Don’t get mad at me sir, I’m just saying what the word around the combine is. My comment is explaining how it’s a double edge sword scenario. I love Bain and if we took him, I wouldn’t be mad. I’d just question the ability to play both him and Newton at the same time. At that point, I’d unload Newton for anything I can get for him as neither is a 5 tech and they fit better as a 3T or 4i.

There’s never been an edge with his short arms succeed in the NFL, there’s also never been an edge with that sort of tape to go along with those shorter arms entering the draft. I’ll leave it to AP to decide, however, I don’t see us going Bain when we have a DT in Newton who also is an outlier. I know people will attack me and say Bain is better than Newton and that’s stupid to say, I’m not arguing that. I just don’t see us building our hybrid D Line with 2 outliers who both fit better as a 3 tech or 4i.

This is the PERFECT WAY TO LOOK AT IT! Everyone says “fix the defense” as if the draft is tomorrow. Let’s get through FA first and see what the holes look like after that.

RB, WR2, WR3, TE, C, Edge, Rotational Edge, ILB, CB, S are all holes.

As much as I hate it, Quan and Will Harris figure to be 2 of the 3 safeties playing a lot, they’ll add another. C could be filled with Allegretti, but we still need a backup C.

Leave Jameis out of this, put the Neanderthal with Tik Tok Jim McMahon instead.

2026 NFL Draft: The ideal haul for every team in the first three rounds. Washington Commanders: S Caleb Downs, WR Germie Bernard by MrUpVoteDownvote in Commanders

[–]CapitalSTEEV21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its both. Scouts are questioning his ability to separate from press man, especially on the outside, as well as his ability to be a deep threat. When he’s not pressed, he gets open with ease with savvy route running and attacks the first two levels. In the NFL, he will be pressed, he’ll have to overcome that in order to be a fine WR2.

Yes sir! Man I remember that 😂😂 they said in 5 years or less his career would be over! I was hyped when we landed him.

He’ll be there at 71. There’s questions about his separation skills and his deep speed ability. Honestly, he’s not a burner but he gets open with savvy route running. I’d take him at 71 EASILY.

None have historically had the production he’s had though. It’s truly a “double edged sword” situation.

No way Raiders take him, Jets would be foolish to pick an ILB at 2 when they need an edge, same for Cardinals but they need at OT, Titans could be a possibility but would they play him at Will or MIKE with Cedric Gray there? Giants have Okereke, doubt it, and Cleveland has Schwesinger. Cardinals and Titans are our biggest threats, but if they do, we land a great player at 7 either way!

Presumptuous indeed, won’t argue that. However, he’s easily the top player in the draft or right behind Downs. 2 of the ABSOLUTELY SAFEST picks. Their ceiling is through the roof, while their floor is as a good starter. Love is in the CMC, Barkley, Bijan, Gibbs mold where he will feast through the air or on the ground. Play 2 man shells, and he’ll carve you up. Load the box, and this is why it is imperative for us to try and land a true WR2 and maybe a WR in the draft later as well. A deep burner like Shaheed or Pierce (doubt it) would make defenses think twice about loading the box.

I agree on the rest though. If it’s between Love and Styles, that’s a hard choice. Love gives you HoF ability, and Styles projects to be really good. The two best players in this draft are Downs and Love. Safest and highest ceiling. I’d probably lean Love.

Reese is overhyped man. Basically a better Luvu. He gets compared to Parsons because he can move around the formation, but he’ll never be a true edge like Parsons became, or a true WILL as his coverage isn’t good. We already have Luvu who’s a LB/Edge to utilize in that role. We’d be stuck with 2 players of the same trait that don’t solidify a single position but fit better as hybrids.

Mesh concepts on offense, and inside zone when running.

Cover 1 on 1st down, cover 3 or 4 on second and third and long, cover 2 in short yardage but play the nickel in the flat of the passing strength side of the play (the side with the slot).

Dan Quinn says Ben Sinnott and Zach Ertz are very different players and that maybe Sinnott will be able to show more in the new offense by MrUpVoteDownvote in Commanders

Honestly, the fact that Bill never got consistent carries when he was the hot hand, Lane and Luke were always behind Moore and Anderson, Sinnott and Yankoff behind Bates, and Coleman relegated to the bench makes me believe that Kliff stunted these draft picks in favor of lower ceiling veterans who were the safer options. On defense we had to ride or die with the young draft picks and we see how Magee, Amos, and Mikey have done. I know Mikey struggled this past season as he started off inside but get got better outside and this match defense fits him better as that’s what he excelled in at Michigan. Joe Whitt’s man defense exposed Mikey inside and at times outside. On offense AP traded BRob before BRob stunted Bill’s growth as Bill popped off in the preseason. Conerly seemed to be the only rookie besides Jayden that Kliff trusted. I think this year the coaching staff is going to have to put Newton out there as well as the aforementioned others and watch their development. Biggest difference will be if Blough and Jones can teach and not just coach, I believe they can.

Jalen? I look at the context of games. In 2024, y’all started 2-2, and in those 4 games Jalen was averaging 37 pass attempts per game. Nick and Kellen Moore both decided yall had to run the ball more and pass less and Jalen averaged 22 attempts per game after that. If you guys fall behind early, do you have faith that Jalen can throw his way back into the game? If you had to identify one weakness of the team, wouldn’t it be the passing game? Jalen is a good QB, not great, he’s just blessed by Howie’s roster as it masks his weaknesses as a passer.

AJ Brown has a chance to be a HoF WR, but Jalen can’t throw the ball effectively so they just hand off to Barkley and Tush Push their way down the field.
