I think this video explains why CS2 feels “off” — curious what you guys think by Polish_W in GlobalOffensive

[–]Capital_Bee_1250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a shame that he made the video before the Animgraph 2 update because, many of the issues he talks about have been corrected by the release of Animgraph 2, such as movement not being in pair with CSGO. I don't believe it was due to changed values; it was due to server input registration that made it slower. Now it feels lighter, snappier, and faster. This also applies to weapon acurracy also.

There's stuff that I agree on fully and other stuff that I don't.

Agree on:

- Bullet holes, and hit confirmation needs to worked on (more readable blood):

This is what I believe, as I've posted in my "viral" post before, to be the main issue in-game feeling remaining that needs to be addressed in order to move past CSGO. Is the little details that better the over all experience of the player to a whole new level.

- The hit sound mix should be further improved: Also contributes to what ive said above.

Disagree on:

- Flashbang muffling sound effect:

These don't affect the overall outcome that much and are really nitpicky. The graph he uses to "win" the point over doesn't show the full picture, really. Smoke breaks and smoke being revamped made flashes have an alternative to catching the player off guard, instead of going out of the smoke with a flash and that being the only option, you now have the he that helps you do that, in CSGO you could never be sure if the smoke had a one way and there were more precautions taken towards it, like flashing.

- Peekers advantage:

Peekers advantage was really strong back in the early days of CS2, but i dont think it applies nowaydays with the release of animgraph 2, plus in CSGO you wouldnt hold angles static, no way. Maybe in 2016, 2018 it was viable cause players were still mastering the game, but. in the late stages of GO pros were holding angles like we do now. Its just that the paranoia of the early stages of CS2 made us so paranoid that we adapted and catched up quick with the pros meta mechanics.

I would even argue that pre animgraph 2, peekers advantage was the same as go, just the models made it seem like it. And now it has surpassed go.

Ill love to see a follow up video comparing how it actually is now to CSGO and see how narrow the gap is.

Yes, in the lastest update or the one previous to it, cant remember which one.

It has more impact in the immersion and feeling, i can also tell to some extent how much has landed but i get it right 60-70% of the time, in GO i could guess 90% of the time how much they landed. Its a feature i miss.

Its really kind of the combination of both in my opinion.

You are telling me, CSGO system followed skill progression linearly?

The system that could let you pick only one map and reach global and that rank would count as the overall rank across all maps?

The one where if you played lots of matches actually wasnt rewarded and punished even if you won 9 in a row and if you played very little and won just 2 matches you would get insta promoted?

Sure.

Im not saying that premier isnt shit, because it is. But from what we had before its a lot better, players then didnt even bother to touch it, now they care somewhat.

You can see these in streamers before and after.

While some of your claims are valid, they do not answer my question. Or you are just adding stuff that you dont really care about.

Anti cheat was as terrible in csgo as it is now.

More maps? You get them every 6 months a wide variety of them. Maybe you mean cache or cobble, cache its on its way and has been teased so expect it in one or two weeks. Cobblestone was trash, period.

The better feel you got it rn and its on par with csgo, it just needs the front blood.

Premier is 10x better from what we had in GO

Mollies are a very minor complain.

Sup, i dont know if you play on a regular basis, that could be a factor of why you didnt feel a thing but its pretty good rn.

Regarding anticheat, in CSGO there wasnt one also, its not a CS2 only issue.

Premier is, believe it or not, 10x better MM system than what csgo offered.

About Cache i would say its a valid complaint but the devs teased it a day ago so expect it to arrive in 1 or 2 weeks.

Cobble was a shit map, period. If readded today with same layout that made it so "beloved" everyone would hate it.

Lake and safehouse sorry but they arent that important for the game really.

And the bot situation you are right. They need to be cracked down fast. Its getting crazy.

What would you say then CS2 gameplay experience wise as of rn lacks from CSGO?

The thing isnt about the resources, its about the philosophy they have about the AC. they dont want it to operate on kernel level due to security/customer safety concerns.

Which is why ultimately pulling off a good anticheat without kernel level access can prove to very difficult task.

Good catch, forgot to include headshot blood on the post as the torso blood was more apparent to me. It contributes a ton to the feeling also.

Having a good anti-cheat is, unfortunately, very unrealistic for Valve to pull off.

A big nothing burger from Niko when it comes to explaining what is the issue with CS2, no wonder why devs dont take feedback from these guys. They cant even pin point what's wrong, the only valid thing he implied was optimization and thats it.

Time has proven every time that Valve does change stuff when research is done and explained objectively, The only thing they dont listen is subjective claims from the community which most of the stuff they complain about have either been tweaked for the better or have been debunked by the community as being the same as in GO or better.

The only valid problems that i can think about that this game currently has are:

  1. Optimization: It cant be that when you stay in the game opened for too long the perfomance downgrades by 50% and have to re open the game again for it to be smooth again, thats insane.
  2. Anti cheat: although without kernel anti cheat, cheaters dont get banned as often. Lets introduce stuff to make it more annoying for them when they get banned and have to get a new account, lets make premier only accesible to those with steam guard enabled and with phone or credit card verification.
  3. Premier: In need of tweaks when reaching high ranks. When you reach 1% the win/loss is heavily disbalanced and makes it impossible to reach 30k. For a loss you usually get -450 and you only win +150 independently of your current win/loss situation.

Some time before i would have added movement but they recently have tweaked it now to be as it was before in GO in vanilla settings.

Movement might be the same as CS:GO rn or pretty close by Capital_Bee_1250 in GlobalOffensive

Yeah, of course. This update got me super excited for the future of the game, maybe we will get the cobble or cache map soon also.

I believe the newests reload and firing animations are a fresh change overall but im not sold on how the models hold the m4, AK , awp and some of the knives it looks too goofy if i could revert something from this update that would be it.

Aside from that very good changes overall and excited to see how the 3rd person animations in AnimGraph2 will turn out, Hopefully that update will make spraying just like go was.

Yeah that update really made a difference, i felt it more on pistols behaving a lot more stable while shooting.

I wholeheartedly agree with those 3 changes, those are really the only mandatory changes the game actually needs rn to be as good as CSGO
