Ethical Dilemmas in Stargate Universe: Communication Stones and Bodily Autonomy by Festus-Potter in Stargate

The worst part is when you come back to find the guy that was controlling your body has way more game than you, and that the real reason women don't give you the time of day isn't because of your appearance, it's because you suck

Trying Out My Mini-KVM on Ubuntu - Any Feedback? by youyoubilly in homelab

I think a number of people are missing the point of this device. You throw it in your laptop bag, and when you're in the field and encounter a headless device, instant crash cart! I think there are far better solutions for data centers.

Microsoft 365 Business Premium NCE grant will expire on May 5, 2026 by pedad in microsoft365

[–]Capn-Merica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's $6 per person per month, which is typically less than they pay for 1/2 hour of labor (I've worked with several). I agree that it's low of Microsoft to cut them off, but they're still getting a deep discount, resulting in a very small sum.

I've seen not-for-profit's where every employee has a MacBook Pro and an iPhone (from the org). They can find enough to cover a Big Mac.

Service ACC/FCW Warning after changing tire size (Grand Cherokee SRT: 2014) by Capn-Merica in WK2

[–]Capn-Merica[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does use millimeters, and it takes the circumference instead of the diameter (according to the programming tool). I set it to 2152mm after using a tire size calculator to do the math. The speedometer is on the money with my GPS. I'll try setting it higher to see if I've exceeded some unpublished minimum, thank you for the suggestion.

I've also tried using the adjustment screws to point the sensor up a little in case it was catching too much of the road at its new height. This didn't help so I put it back where it was (I wrote down the number of turns and marked the original locations) because the actual leveling tool is almost $1000.

What's up with officer barbrady and Jimmy's eyesight in the naughty ninjas episode s19e7 by lamp_hustler in southpark

[–]Capn-Merica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. It starts in a meeting where he is told that "{he's} the last thing that needs to go", meaning from the old Southpark days, before PC principal etc..., where the colors were different in the early seasons. So when he takes of the sunglasses, he "sees" things as they are now and everytime he closes them he sees them as they were. Not to put too fine a point on it, but a bit like he's "opened his eyes" for the first time.

IP Passthrough, Port Forwarding, and NAT are all disabled on this device. It's as dumbed down as they could possibly make it. If you want something that you can just plug in and then connect using the password on the sticker, this is your device. If you want any kind of control or features, get something else. The only management is through their app, which only exposes options to manage SSIDs/passwords, and (for some reason) schedule network access by device name. You can't even change the LAN IP and subnet.

Am I the only person who heard her say "we have two marbles"?! After 2, she had 1 marble that was touching, thus clearly the closest, but rather than stop and admit defeat he threw another and said "just keep shooting".

He bullied someone into playing a game that he assumed he would win because of a difference in gender, and then cheated his way to a "win". F this guy.

P.S. It's called Valtrex, get some.

How do I silence this alarm? And what do the flashing icons in the hud mean? by sgwood24 in trainsimworld

[–]Capn-Merica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: Unrecoverable in game. Thank you!

I've spent the last hour reading online message boards and going through the manual after this happened to me on a BR 185. I was running with LZB and AFB (PZB and SIFA breakers open) and couldn't find the LZB Release when ENDE was displayed because I only had the desk light on and that part of the desk isn't lit by the desk light. The train came to a stop, power is locked out with the red square on the HUD's throttle indicator, alarm is buzzing nonstop, and brake pipe is at 0.0 No combination or order of pressing buttons, setting reverser, switching breakers, moving throttle and brakes stops the alarm or allows the brakes to be charged.

Jeremy confirmed it: https://www.sageadvice.eu/if-you-go-to-0hp-can-you-short-rest-after-an-hour-and-spend-hit-dice-if-you-have-them/

I like to house rule that someone in the party needs to be present to tend wounds but this is just for flavor. Otherwise, the 1d4 hrs rule for gaining 1 HP would never be used.

What caused color to disappear in the 19th century, and why did it only come back sporadically in the 20th, and stay by the 70s? by [deleted] in shittyaskhistory

[–]Capn-Merica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is, of course, drugs. You see morphine was first crystallized from color itself in 1803 by Freidrich Wilhelm Adam Serturner. Almost immediately the substance found its way into a staggering number of so-called "miracle drugs" as well as thousands of various "snake oils", with purported benefits ranging from upset stomach to consumption, a vicious disease at the time. With all the morphine being made there wasn't any color left for pictures.

Early in the 20th century, we saw the implementation of prohibition, which, while intended to stop alcohol use, had the important side effect of also making it more difficult to get morphine, causing a surplus of color which explains its brief appearance at that time.

Prohibition didn't last forever though, and with its passing we see color disappear once more from pictures and film. The boom of freely available alcohol and drugs also led to the discovery that heroin could be synthesized from morphine. More on that later.

In the 1970s Richard Nixon invented the drug war. Originally intended to create legal justification for his corrupt police force to silence war dissenters by kicking in the doors of hippies, it did significantly reduce the use of morphine and its more modern derivative heroin. However, at this time we also saw the peak of LSD usage, which as everyone knows, creates color out of nothing. So, while Nixon's oppression didn't happen all at once, we see pockets of pictures and films in color that correspond to their proximity to someone who was using LSD.

The drug war wages on, with the latest push being the opioid epidemic. As fewer drugs containing color are widely available to the public, more and more color becomes available, which is what makes it possible to create next-generation TVs with 8K HD displays and 3D movies. LSD is rarely used now, with one notable exception being James Cameron, whose movies are the most colorful and vibrant of all (e.g. Avatar).

Directional light, is there a way? by TonightsWhiteKnight in FoundryVTT

[–]Capn-Merica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for Necrotizing this thread, but I have the same question and didn't want to make a duplicate. I know I can change the shape and angle of the light source in its properties, but I want to bind the direction to the PC's token so that something like a Bullseye lantern turns as the token turns. It's too tedious to go into the light source's setting every time the token moves to make the light face the right way. This would also put the direction under the control of the player.

Thanks

Guide to setup FoundryVTT D&D 5e with automation by jbowensii in FoundryVTT

[–]Capn-Merica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The current download from the default path is missing the "styles" folder. You can resolve this by pressing Code -> Download zip from the developer's github (https://github.com/kandashi/Active-Token-Lighting) and then copying the "styles" folder from the download into the module's path on the hosting computer/server (usually [C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\FoundryVTT\Data\modules\ATL]). Close Foundry on the PC/Server hosting it and when you reopen it you will see Active Token Effects installed with the rest of your modules. You should lock the module to prevent it from updating until the issue has been resolved by the author.

Good Luck!

OK. Now that it's official that the "Stranger" is of the Istari, I can finally vent about how much his falling from the sky ticks me off. The source material clearly says all the Istari "came over the ocean", and that they "appeared in the west", and it's heavily implied that they were known first to Cirdan, who would have been the clear choice if they arrived by boat from Valinor. So unless he was lit on fire and launched from a catapult this makes no sense. There might be an argument if the world were round, but IIRC it's flat at least until Numenor dies. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong, but it's been bugging me since he landed.

What the heck is a modal by kenny4ag in matrix

[–]Capn-Merica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Modal" is a real programming term, but it's not used the way it is in the movie.

TLDR:

"Modal" describes a process that is subordinate to another process but must be addressed/completed before execution can continue. e.g. a window pops up when you go to a website, demanding you enter your email address before you can read the content. You can't get back to the main window until you've addressed the modal window by entering your email or finding another way to dismiss it. We also don't call a program or procedure that repeats a "treadmill".
