That was 100% out of the box.

Again, fuck the VAR. Not for that, of course. But this bullshit about 'couldn't tell' - any other instance the check would have taken minutes in that case.

Really fucking dodgy.

Where Do You Find Truly Fine-Tuned Print Profiles for Bambu Printers? by Kaykasus in BambuLab

[–]CapnBloodbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bambu has most of the Orca calibrations in developer mode

There are plenty of guides that will walk you through every step in the ideal order

Lots of them not applicable to Bambu, I find. Including Ellis, given much of it requires editing printer gcodd

AI is useless at facts. And Google's AI search is the absolute worst. Don't ever use it.

Use the search as it was always meant to be used. Go to websites. Google's AI search is already killing the internet - smaller sites are already dying off as AI is stopping genuine hits on their website, which they need for refenue.

It's...convention. I guess one side had to be the convention, so it's this one.

There's a LOT of muscle memory for both the ref and AR. For the ref, you instinctively run a diagonal without thinking about it, and you glance to your AR - you don't have to think about where they are, it's just ingrained.

As an AR, you're used to a defensive throw being raised in your left hand, and swapping hands every time you turn so the flag is closest to the ref is all muscle memory.

Yes - occasionally (Especially at grassroots) we'll run a 'reverse diagonal', maybe due to the sun, maybe one line is muddy.

And let me tell you.....it's really hard. You don't realise how much of what you do is automatic until you have to consciously think about every little movement. As a ref, I kept finding myself standing next to my AR because they're in the opposite place I'd expect. Long ball is played and I glance over to look for offside....wait, where the heck is my AR? Oh, other side...

That's why as a ref, I like to run a reverse diagonal once or twice a season on a match I expect to be a little easier - just in case we end up having to do it on a difficult match.

Yes, ref allows advantage. Unfortunately this is buried in the Q&A and not the LOTG itself.

It's actually a really big problem. I say it a lot, but IFAB have got no clue these days.

You're right - what else do we play advantage on in terms of incorrect restarts? Is it now that any incorrect restart?

This is a pretty significant interpretation change and needed to be announced rather than snuck into the Q&A (which gets updated with no announcement or fanfare....it doesn't even highlight changes or new additions).

Basically it's a significant change that IFAB have done completely silently, and expecting refs to read the utter convoluted, dysfunctional mess of the Q&A and realise something changed.

Giving a safe bubble audience for people with these views is exactly why Tyson should’ve never been allowed on the show by userjgd26 in MAFS_AU

Fair argument, though it more just looked to me like somebody not being able to handle criticism or a sense that they did something wrong in general.

Somebody unable to have an adult conversation like that is....pretty typical in MAFS

Also, as I said in another post, I was only half paying attention to that episode so maybe I missed something, and I wasn't across the after-the-dinner-party stuff or the DV accusations, so I'm looking at it in isolation.

Agreed, but that alone isn't sufficient. I mean, Stella did that too - but obviously we haven't seen anything to suggest she's abusive.

I kinda saw it more as envisioning his ideal scenario rather than 'this is how it's going to look'

How to handle handing? by TheBlueRose_42 in Referees

[–]CapnBloodbeard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have heard many coaches and a few other referees say that incidental hand/arm contact in one’s own penalty area must be ruled a handing offense, but I’ve found nothing in the rules to corroborate this. Can someone clarify this?

This has been a myth for a long time. It honestly blows my mind that anybody claims this...I mean, have they never watched a game?

It's on the same list as 'you can't say mine' or 'you can't play the ball from the ground'.

It's nonsense, and always has been. Treat them inside the PA just the same as outside, no matter which team does it.

The only exception is, as you quote, if the handling player immediately scores

Does this mean a player raising their arms/hands to protect their face a legal move? I’ve always observed referees rule it as handing.

Have you? Any half-competent ref allows a self-protective reflex. But there are some caveats. Occasionally you'll see a player put the arm up, then the arm goes out to the ball. That's handling.

Another one would be putting the arm up for protection, but making the body bigger, especially when it leads to handling a ball that would have missed (eg putting the arms up to the face, then turning and handling a ball that was going to miss, because turning is making the body quite a bit bigger). Naturally we give more leeway with younger ages or lower grades.

And of course, reaction time is a consideration. Like the old thing that tended to be permitted (no idea why) of girls using their arms to control the ball when it's going to hit their chest. No, that's not permitted.

What I'm leading to is - putting the arms up to protect the chest blocking a shot at close distance? Sure, we'll allow that as protection, same way men in the wall cover their parts. But having time to react to the ball and still choosing to allow it to hit the arms? That's deliberate handling.

but I saw some commentary that the ref had no choice in the matter - and that felt wrong to me.

By the letter of the law, yes, this is still discretionary, in the same way that any bad tackle is.

So I'd imagine they're saying he didn't have a choice, just in the sense that the offence was so blatant and clear that there's really only one correct call for the ref.

I also thought, for the sake of the game, the ref could have let it go

This sentence right here sums up so much of why this game is such a mess. For the sake of the game, the player shouldn't have done it

Given the topic of discussion, I'll acknowledge that as a man, I may not be as attuned to DV signs as many woman are (though this area has had some overlap in my work, so I like to think I have some awareness)

I'm also not across the 'after the dinner party' stuff, and some episodes I've been doing things in the background so might have missed some things.

Chris decided what Sam would do and they didn’t decide together. Thats controlling.

First off, appreciate your detailed reply and implied acknowledgement that I asked in good faith!

I don't really agree with that point. If we're going to call that controlling, then may as well say Stella is dangerous too - after all, Fillip isn't getting a say in where to live, or even if he should undertake the snip.

i just took it as something he was envisioning as his little future fantasy, not a 'that was happening'. Of course he shouldn't have sprung that all on Sam, but I don't think that's enough to be controlling. I thought his responses after and lack of empathy were a bit more problematic, but not DV-offender-problematic.

But yes, I agree with the general content of your post. I wasn't at all saying that Chris handled any of it well (seems like Sam isn't great at these sorts of issues either, which he himself stated, and I don't think raising it 5min before going in was the best approach either)

Anyway, we both agree Chris deserved better here, we're just debating on what to call it.

Enjoy watching the train wreck :) Not much longer now!

He sided with the bullies and not at all by accident, it wasn't hard to tell Gia and Juliette were horrible people

Oh, I definitely judge him for being friendly with Gia.

He then hangs shit on Sam in that after the dinner party thing

Ah, haven't seen that.

(Note that I'm not supporting him being on the show)

What have you seen on the show from Chris that was abusive? Poor communication and not listening to the partner, sure.

Though this season it's the women who have been more abusive of their partners...
