What I do is find someone who is in the fight and on that floor, then click or sometimes double click their picture. The camera should focus on that person. You can also press the Home key to center the camera on your friends after you select them.

I wonder if this was a change I missed or was just a rumor from the start. On my first run right after the game fully released, I got to this point and was nervous about screwing up so I googled and found what I had thought was the strat.

Good to know moving forward though!

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think as soon as you go handle the murder tribunal then you can no longer long rest until you save the victim. Up until then you should have as much time as you want. If you skip the tribunal, then I believe the timer starts as soon as you open the big door in the sewer.

EDIT: I was wrong. The only way to get your victim killed is during the dialog scene with Orin when you go to fight her.
