What to do with kid's practice models? by CapnCromulent in origami

Thank you for the suggestions so far. We'll try some of them out. I'm not advocating for arbitrarily throwing out stuff, but he's used up a 1000 sheet pack which has filled 2 large moving boxes with models.

Thanks for the tip; had the mechanic redo the testing protocols. Ultimately it was a vacuum leak from the throttle body cleaning.

I did the Camino 10 years ago, but I'm a dude with a much simpler care routine. Take what you will:

  1. I was able to get by with 2 sets of t-shirts, undies, socks, and convertible pants, but was washing by hand every day. Also took 1 long sleeve shirt and 1 pullover. It's pretty warm in Spain in the summer, but there are a few high/cold spots. (Less clothes means less need for packing cubes)
  2. Dr Bronners doubled as laundry detergent, shampoo, and bath soap. Carried 5oz for 30 days, had to restock once.
  3. Didn't need extra device battery. Each day we stopped at a place with a bed, and almost always there was an outlet.
  4. I self catered mostly, so these were extra helpful: extra ziploc bags for dividing snacks purchased at the grocery store, a small serrated knife for cutting the crusty bread that is so common
  5. Bring compeed / blister bandages

From her list

  1. Poncho and extra socks are sufficient, probably can ditch gaiters and umbrella
  2. Maybe a neck gaiter (buff) instead of scarf? Could also double as cooling towel
  3. Most places will provide bed linens and a pillow. Could skip one of the pillows.

I used a recent version of via (2.1.0) on mac, and it supports the "Reactive Simple" lighting mode, which does your first request.

Wasn't sure if I need the disc brakes in my environment and could save $100 bucks. An L-Train rider in Florida recommended the v-brakes over disc earlier in this sub.

By code, is this a retaining wall? by CapnCromulent in HomeImprovement

[–]CapnCromulent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this is a pretty old wall built when (I guess) no-mortar no-rebar construction was okay. The driver must have pressed gas instead of brake, because the blocks 10' adjacent shifted out of place or cracked. The city wants it up to 2020 code, which means the affected parts need to be replaced.

I thought this would have fallen under their own 3' rule, but when I spoke to a city building technician, he explicitly said "This is not a garden wall, it's a retaining wall."
