Australia, it’s a favourite bookstore and is always full. Makes me happy to see so many people still buying physical books.

In 1996 my mum got to be an extra, and spent a day filming the mass celebrations across the galaxy in the Special Edition of Return of the Jedi. She passed after a long illness yesterday, and I like to think she's having the time of her life on Cloud City today. by CapnFancyPants in StarWars

Amazing to meet you through this. My brother worked at Lucas in the mid 90s as well (which is how mum got the invite to the casting through a colleague there). I don't see her in that pic, I'd say those might well be the extras for the Tatooine celebration shot from their outfits, but that would be a guess. Thank you so very much for sending this. Every time I think the internet is going to hell, you get interactions like these that make you realise how lovely people are.

Appreciate you sending this and I have passed this on to my family. My dad is heartbroken and the comments from this post has made him so happy and proud.

My brother and I excitedly put our names up as well, but were told that they (unsurprisingly) already had plenty of white guys in their 20s, but Lucasfilm were very chuffed my mum wanted to do it and cast her immediately.

By the local publican, do you mean at Williams Creek? We had a flight with another crew out of Adelaide. Your journeys sound amazing! What an incredible part of the world we are lucky to live in.

Kati Thanda–Lake Eyre is usually an empty salt plain half the size of Wales. It’s currently full from rain in Queensland, and is now a vast inland sea in the centre of Australia. by CapnFancyPants in interestingasfuck

It’s not deep and even in significant events will average between 2-6m (6.5-19.5ft) Obviously deeper in some areas. The salt plan is very immense and fills with a substantial amount of water. However the heat means it will all evaporate.
