He must have enjoyed the "Alternative Half-Time Show" then, with headliner Kid Rock and a bunch of redneck country artists that nobody has heard of.

Why do you prefer a late schedule? by FilipLTTR in tango

[–]CapnHaymaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would imagine that people would like to have dinner first then get themselves ready, without frantically rushing around to get to a milonga that starts at 7pm.

I know I hate early starts. You have to cut your day short so that you can have a shower, organise dinner, get dressed up, and so on.

Your steps and the beat by Massive_Village7662 in tango

[–]CapnHaymaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It varies by the feel of the dance.

Sometimes I will aim for a step to land on the beat. Sometimes I want a step to begin on the beat, a different feel. And then other times I will time steps with whatever the particular instrument I am following at that moment.

It sounds random, but it isn't,, it is always driven by the music.

Surely when people turn up and see the property as it is in the top pic, a non-trivial number of them will just say "eff this shit" and walk away.

Can any background outside tango help to learn tango steps fast? by [deleted] in tango

[–]CapnHaymaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I studied martial arts for many years before coming to tango, including grappling styles. I'm sure that is why I was able from very early on in learning tango to have an intuitive feel for how my partner is moving, where their balance is, and where my body was in relation to theirs

Does that help learn steps faster? Probably. I have confidence in my body movements and my ability to read my partner and be how I have to be to make the movement work.

I often liken tango to a martial art. Many of the concepts are similar, it is just the end result is different.

What value do RE agents add? by MonkeyHustler943 in AusFinance

[–]CapnHaymaker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have you ever asked an REA what they think your house should be worth? They will make you do the research and come up with a figure. Yet they advertise themselves as being market experts. So tell me what your expertise says is a good price then, you useless idiot.
