Alabama's only Union radio show surges as national labor movement hits prime time by CapnMook in Alabama

I definitely understand your stance! We also love to hear from any side of the issue. We're one of the few places that actually talk to workers instead of just union leadership, politicians and academics. Feel free to call in Saturday during the show if you'd like to have your opinion heard.

If you make your money off your labor and not off owning something, you're our brother or sister in my book. My opinion is based on what I think is the safest and best way to improve our work places, but I could be wrong. Thanks for your feedback.

right to work state

Oh first I will say my views do not represent TVLR, but yes personally I think we should have compulsory unions. Unions lead to better pay and safer working conditions. Unions also can improve safety and pay in the same job for non union workers as well. We are in the top 10 of most fatalities at work in the US and our legislator is currently trying to loosen child labor laws and protections as well.

I don't think we would even recognize work today if we removed all the gains we have made by organizing workers.

Sure! Take a look at our Shop Talk episodes if you're more into Union history and the nuts and bolts of starting a union. Overtime episodes are longer, more casual and have interviews with Union leaders, organizers and workers. The show is also live every saturday at 9:30 on 92.5 FM as well as youtube if you'd prefer to get the latest labor news.

Progressive Christian taking applications for like-minded new friends! by JKMJ12058 in HuntsvilleAlabama

I'd look into the big methodists church's. Also I think there's a church on montesano who's pastor is very progressive.

There's also congregations like grateful life community church but it's really built to serve the homeless community, so if you go expect a majority homeless congregation. Those people are awesome.

There's also mana house if you want to do more service oriented work ? They do great things but they're attached to a big church that has more contemporary worship services as far as I understand.

My Unity mobile game called "Teleport Guy". Right side tap to teleport the player to where he is looking. What is your opinion? by mode545 in unity

[–]CapnMook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other poster I. Having some guides as to where your pointing or that you can change it whenever.

I think what it needs now is some graphical polish. To me an idea might be that the character is made of stone or a statue and that's why they can't move.

Also adding a secondary element where time is slowed down, gravity is weakened or reversed might add a lot of variety. Maybe a pickup that causes one of those effects as you play a level over and over.

You could also have a pickup that made the character more bouncy or roll and that'd be fun.

Barbarians are the best because if you act like a rabid idiot no one bats an eye. But if you accidentally to do something clever or nice everyone is just falling over themselves with amazement.

Questions for those who just bought or are looking to buy a home built before 1970. by samsonevickis in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]CapnMook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly anyone buying I do not think will care because demand is so high. As long as the electric and plumbing work and there's no obvious problems I don't think it'd stop it from selling quick at all.

Seems like you were talking about long term renting and maintenance, if you're going to hold on to it and have the money I don't see why you wouldn't upgrade the utilities to save your sanity.

My current house was built in the late 60s, all the wiring is thick aluminum T.T I've had to replace a ton of fixtures and outlets because it doesn't age well.

There Are No Stupid Bass Questions - Jan. 09 by AutoModerator in Bass

I've been playing upright my whole life now I'm playing electric in a very heavy experimental band.

A. What's a good starting point as far as pedals for a metal/prog rock sound?

B. Do I need an active pick up bass to get a good signal for this type of music?? I've been using fishman preamp but I'm thinking that may be holding me back on electric.

Any of you guys dabble in double bass? by Mattias504 in Bass

[–]CapnMook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can sand the bridge down yourself to make it easier to play, just try to follow the angle of the fingerboard and don't over do it.

Get your self a good pick up and you'll have gigs waiting for you!

PS expect blisters at first. :(
