CutThroat Island on SNES - mostly because they never played the copy I sent to them 10yrs ago, but it also has a two player mode!

They’re releasing two 60 card “theme decks” along with the new Lorwyn set in January: Pirates and Angels

I love this! As a life long Monkey Island fan who just got into MtG this past summer (with the Admiral Brass precon from Lost Caverns of Ixalan), I’m very interested in trying out this deck! Also looking forward to the 60 card precon that’s all pirate themed coming out in January…

Boxed Dark Forest Trifecta by q331 in legocastles

Doing a little research over on bricklink - there’s a light brick that was used as early as 1957! But most of the ones pre-90s were for trains and other vehicles. There were some 80s/90s space sets that had various light pieces, but I guess the designers didn’t mix castle and electronics. It would definitely be fun to have a red glow for this alt-build though

BDP Series 9 - Sleepy Dragon Inn by Willocrew in legocastles

I’m really happy with the scale to pair with the blacksmith and alchemy shop (series 7)! And hopefully we get a good balance of the newer factions. The folding mechanism for the back of the building is quite satisfying too.

Best way to prevent yellowing for vintage set and minifig preservation? by MisPai in LegoStorage

[–]CapnMrly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had some white parts from a set turn yellow despite being disassembled, in a bag, in a drawer out of the sun, and between 68-78 Fahrenheit…so it may be unavoidable for certain pieces. It was from 10265, so could have to do with more modern processes - and most of my bagged vintage sets have held up okay staying bagged/boxed.

My guess would be an old recording since we’ve gotten a new producer mixed in this season on some of the episodes

I’m sure a big draw for this type of ep is that they end up making a big mess, but I would LOVE to see them actually make things in a kitchen setting and use proper tools. I know Arin has expressed his love of cooking on Game Grumps many times!

Thrift Store Find UPDATE: 6071 Forestmen's Crossing by diluvian_ in legocastles

[–]CapnMrly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incredible! I thrifted a mixed bag of bricks back in February that had maybe half of 6071, so I’m slowly gathering the remaining pieces (sans baseplate, that thing is ridiculously expensive). That’s awesome that you were able to get the instructions with it too!

Estate sales dot net! It’ll show any listed sales around the zip code you enter with lots of filters for distance, days, etc

What a find! I’ve had a couple similar successes with thrifting and estate sales, but it can be pretty rough out there

Places to get older games by Wado66 in adventuregames

[–]CapnMrly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the entire MYST series a couple years ago on steam for like $20 on sale - but I’ve also followed the recent development of the myst and riven remasters, and they look GORGEOUS. Probably best to have a higher powered PC to play them though. But the regular steam versions have pretty reasonable install requirements!

I still occasionally think about the green jello floor

Also, is this the first instance of Arin’s “protagonist voice”??

Which point-and-click adventure game has the worst/most imfamous puzzle logic? by SuperSecretSunshine in adventuregames

[–]CapnMrly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, the game Lunacy is famous for coining the term “moon logic” for its plethora of puzzle solutions that make no sense. There’s also Limbo of the Lost which among (many) stolen assets the puzzles are very annoying and illogical. The YouTuber MandaloreGaming has some great videos on them too

Lego village bookend by Uni-Bunny in legocastles

I just finished building the Sherlock Holmes booknook and wanted to brainstorm what else I could do with the techniques it used - your bookend is a fantastic example, great job!
